1. Weekly Spiritual Message
Spiritual message for this week by Father David:
As we approach the holy days of Lent, it is good to remind ourselves of a short, lovely prayer in the Orthodox tradition called the "Lenten prayer" written by St Ephraim the Syrian:
"O Lord and Master of my life! Take from me the spirit of sloth, faint-heartedness, lust of power, and idle talk. But give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience, and love to Thy servant. Yea, O Lord and King! Grant me to see my own errors and not to judge my brother; For Thou art blessed unto ages of ages. Amen"
How can I benefit from this simple prayer?
It highlights in a unique way all the "negative" and "positive" elements of repentance and constitutes, a "check list" for our individual lenten effort. Try to pick at least 1 fundamental spiritual disease in your life to remove – knowing that leaving this disease will shape my life and make it virtually impossible for me to even start turning to God.
Try to work on 1 positive element that I need to grow or introduce in my life. Knowing that this will definitely get me closer to my Lord.
Make every effort to make this Lent the most beneficial Lent in your life. Start Lent from the beginning so that you can truly benefit from the Holy Pascha Week and experience the joy of His Resurrection. It would be a real loss if we waste these precious days and allow ourselves to remain distracted by the world. Happy and Blessed Lenten fast to you all.
2. Weekend Liturgies timetable
Please note the following important guidelines:
1. We encourage you to attend weekday masses when possible and leave Sunday free for others who don’t have any other choice. This will help keep attendance numbers under control and protect the church from any trouble. Your assistance is very much appreciated.
2. Although some rules have been relaxed it is important to remain diligent and avoid crowding. Please pre-order your food and avoid gathering in front of the food booths.

5. Bookshop Celebration
On Sunday 7 March and Sunday 14 March, the bookshop will be celebrating Pope Kyrillos and Pope Shenouda. Please visit us to see new arrivals!

6. Holy Lent – Commencing Monday 8 March
Lent starts this Monday 8th March. The church prays for a holy time for you all. Please see attached the church services during Lent.

10. Church Welcoming Service – From this Sunday 7 March *
We get many newcomers at St Mark’s and we want to make sure every person feels welcomed and supported.
From this Sunday an information stand will be set up at the English car-park during mass and then near the bookshop after mass.
Each week, two servants from the welcoming group service will be at the stand but also walking around. They will be able to support with:
+ Providing information about the church and its services
+ Connecting with people or support services for any needs
Please come and visit or If you know someone who could benefit from this service please bring them to the information desk.
*Apologies – commencing from this Sunday, not 28/2 as previously stated.

ونحن نقترب من أيام الصوم الكبير المقدسة، من الجيد أن نذكّر انفسنا بصلاة قصيرة جميلة في التقليد الأرثوذكسي تدعى" صلاة الصوم الكبير" كتبها القديس مار افرام السرياني:
" أيها الرب وسيد حياتي! خذ مني روح الكسل والتوان، وشهوة القوة والثرثرة. بل اعطي عبدك روح العفة والتواضع والصبر والمحبة. يا ربي وملكي! امنحني أن أرى اخطائي والا احكم على أخي؛ لأنك انت مبارك إلى دهر الدهور. أمين"
كيف انتفع من هذه الصلاة البسيطة؟
إنها تسلط الضوء وبطريقة فريدة على كل العناصر "السلبية" و"الإيجابية" للتوبة وتضع دستوراً "بقائمة" لجهادنا الشخصي خلال الصوم الكبير. حاول ان تختار مرض روحي أساسي واحد في حياتك لتزيله – عالماً أن عدم التخلص من هذا المرض سيشكل حياتي ويجعل من المستحيل عملياً بالنسبة لي حتى البدء في اللجوء إلى الله.
حاول أن تعمل على عنصر إيجابي واحد احتاج إلى النمو فيه أو أن ادخله حياتي. عالماً أن هذا بالتأكيد سيقربني من ربي.
جاهد بقوة أن تجعل من هذا الصوم أكثر صوم استفدت منه في حياتك. ابدأ الصوم من أوله حتى تتمتع بالفعل من أسبوع البصخة المقدس ولتختبر بهجة القيامة. انها خسارة حقيقية إذا اهدرنا هذه الأيام الثمينة وسمحنا لأنفسنا أن نستمر مشتتين بالعالم. أتمنى لكم جميعاً صوم كبير سعيد ومبارك
٢.جدول قداسات السبت والأحد
نرجوكم الاطلاع على الإرشادات الهامة التالية:
نحثكم على حضور قداسات أيام الأسبوع إذا امكن، وترك قداسات يوم والأحد لمن ليس لهم هذا الخيار . سيساعد هذا الأمر في الحفاظ على الالتزام بعدد الحضور المسموح به من المصلين، نقدر كثيراً مساعدتكم في هذا الأمر
وعلى الرغم من تخفيف بعض القوانين بدءً من اليوم الجمعة ١٢ فبراير، الا أن الحرص وتجنب الازدحام أمور لا تزال مهمة. يُرجى وضع طلب الطعام مسبقاً وتجنب الزحمة أمام منافذ الطعام.

١٠.خدمة الترحيب بالقادمين الجدد إلى الكنيسة
نتلقى العديد من القادمين الجدد إلى كنيسة القديس مارمرقس ونريد أن نتأكد من أن يشعر كل فرد بالترحاب والمساندة.
اعتباراً من يوم الاحد القادم سيتم وضع منصة معلومات في موقف السيارات خارج الكنيسة الإنجليزي خلال القداس ثم بجانب المكتبة بعد القداس.
سيكون هناك كل أسبوع خادمان من خدام مجموعة الترحيب عند المنصة بل وسيقومان بالتجوال أيضاً حول الكنيسة. سيستطيعان تقديم المساعدة عن طريق:
+ توفير معلومات عن الكنيسة وخداماتها
+التواصل مع الناس أو خدمات المساندة لأي احتياجات
من فضلك تعال وقم بزيارتنا أو إذا كنت تعرف شخص قد يستفيد من هذه الخدمة من فضلك احضره إلى منضدة المعلومات.
