Spiritual message of the week by Father Augustinos:
"TENTHENO CHILDREN" of the New Year
The new year begins with 6 hours of darkness from midnight. It is dark until sunrise and ends with 6 hours of darkness. From sunset until midnight, there is darkness. Even though the fireworks lighten up the skies, there is still darkness. Therefore, half the years have been full of darkness.
It is a reminder that we are to prepare ourselves for the darkness of the new year; this is reality: the new year will have the darkness of the spiritual battle and ever more in the coming years.
We read in 1 Peter 5:8: "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." The devil is at work! We see the fast-changing world daily in the increase of the change in the morality of a promiscuous world in acceptance of gender change, same-sex, choice, and now apostolic churches blessing what is biblically against God’s teaching and laws.
The devil is at work devouring the way people think and accept and practice immoral behaviour; the devil is devouring more marriages, causing family breakups, causing adultery, changing people’s moral behaviour, and wasting time on social media. All these things lead to unacceptable behaviour, inflicting pain, suffering, doubt, anxiety, fear, wars, greed, love of money, pride, power, jealousy, disrespect, and focusing on trivial, irrelevant matters that distract us from the love of God.
However, in all this, we still see the glory of God every day because, thank God, we still have many youth who have embraced a deep love for God, who have transformed their lives and have become the light of the world through their passion for Christ. They are lighting the darkness of the world, and these are the true "TENTHENO children" As we say in Tasbeha,
"Arise, O children of the light, let us praise the Lord of hosts." Many youth embrace Christ through their deep love for the Lord and serious spiritual practices and struggle for holiness.
The solution to the darkness coming upon the world is for us to live in the light and be children of the light.
St. Paul said in Hebrews 12:14, "Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord."
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone in love and understanding and every effort to be holy; don’t allow the devil to distract our focus from the sight of Christ with trivial and foolish matters that will bring darkness to our lives but rather let our focus be on what leads to holiness and the love of God. Let us all be TENTHENO children for this year and all the years of our lives.
The good thing is we still have 12 hours of light every day of the new year.

5. St Mark’s Tutoring – Years 6 and 7 Maths Algebra
St Mark’s Tutoring will be running Year 6 and 7 Maths Algebra lessons. This one-week intensive course will run between Monday 15th – Friday 19th January from 10:30am – 1pm (with a 15-minute break in between). It will be taught by HSC Graduate, Andrew Saleeb who achieved a very high result in Mathematics Extension 1 and 2 as an accelerant in 2022. Lessons will be intensive with lesson quizzes, homework, and final topic exam. Please ensure students are motivated to work hard through this intensive course and complete all homework and classwork provided following each lesson. Please see poster for contact details.

١.الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية
يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس ابونااغوسطينوس
"بني النور" للعام الجديد
يبدأ العام الجديد بستة ساعات ظلام من منتصف الليل. ويظل مظلماً حتى طلوع الشمس وينتهي ثانية بستة ساعات ظلام. ظلام من غروب الشمس إلى منتصف الليل. وعلى الرغم من أن الألعاب النارية تضيء السماء إلا انه لا يزال الظلام باق. ولذلك، أن نصف الأعوام يعمها الظلام.
وهذا الأمر ليذكرنا بأن نعد انفسنا لظلام العام الجديد؛ هذا واقع؛ سيعم الظلام في العام الجديد وهو ظلام المعركة الروحية والذي سيزداد في الأعوام القادمة.
نقرأ في رسالة بطرس الرسول الأولى 5 : 8 "اُصْحُوا وَاسْهَرُوا. لأَنَّ إِبْلِيسَ خَصْمَكُمْ كَأَسَدٍ زَائِرٍ، يَجُولُ مُلْتَمِسًا مَنْ يَبْتَلِعُهُ هُوَ." الشيطان يعمل! نرى العالم سريع التغير يومياً وتزايد التغير الاخلاقي في عالم مضطرب يقبل تغيير النوع والزواج المثلي ونرى كنيسة رسولية تبارك ما يتعارض كتابياً مع تعاليم الله وشرائعه.
الشيطان يعمل ويبتلع الطريقة التي يفكر بها الناس ويقبلون ويمارسون أمور غير أخلاقية؛ الشيطان يبتلع المزيد من الزيجات ويتسبب في التفكك الأسري والوقوع في الزنا وفي تغيير السلوك الأخلاقي للناس، وفي تضييع الوقت على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي. لقد أدت كل هذه الأشياء إلى سلوكيات غير مقبولة، وآلام ومعاناة وشك وتوتر وخوف وحروب وطمع ومحبة المال والكبرياء والسلطة والغيرة وعدم الاحترام والتركيز على الأمور التافهة التي تصرف نظرنا عن محبة الله.
ومع ذلك، وسط كل هذا، لا نزال نرى مجد الله كل يوم لأن، والشكر لله، لا يزال لدينا العديد من الشباب/ الشابات لديهم محبة عميقة لله، قاموا بتغيير حياتهم واصبحوا نور العالم من خلال محبتهم لله. فهم يضيئون ظلمة العالم وهؤلاء هم بالحقيقة "بني النور" كما نرتل في التسبحة، " قوموا يا بني النور، لنسبح رب القوات". العديد من الشباب يحتضنون السيد المسيح من خلال محبتهم العميقة له والممارسات الروحية الجادة والجهاد للوصول إلى القداسة.
إن الحل للظلمة التي حلت على العالم هو أن نحيا في النور ونكون بني النور.
يقول القديس بولس في الرسالة إلى العبرانيين 12 :14 " "اِتْبَعُوا السَّلاَمَ مَعَ الْجَمِيعِ، وَالْقَدَاسَةَ الَّتِي بِدُونِهَا لَنْ يَرَى أَحَدٌ الرَّبَّ،"
اجتهدوا لتعيشوا في سلام مع الجميع في محبة وفهم واجتهدوا لتتقدسوا؛ لا تسمحوا للشيطان ان يلهيكم عن التركيز على رؤية السيد المسيح بأمور تافهة تجلب الظلام لحياتنا بل ليكن تركيزنا على ما يؤدي إلى القداسة وإلى محبة الله. فلنكن جميعاً بني النور هذا العام وكل أعوام حياتنا
الأمر الحسن هو أننا لا يزال لدينا 12 ساعة من النور كل يوم من أيام العام الجديد.
كل عام جديد وأنتم في ملء البركة والقداسة

٥. سانت مارك تيوترينج (تدريس) –مادة الرياضيات فرع الجبر للصف السادس والسابع
ستدير سانت مارك تيوترينج دروس قي الجبر للصف السادس والسابع. سيُدار هذا الكورس المكثف لمدة اسبوع من يوم الاثنين 15 يناير إلى الجمعة 19 يناير من 10:30 صباحاً حتى 1 ظهراً (يتخلل هذه الفترة 15 دقيقة راحة). سيقوم بالتدريس اندرو صليب الذي حصل على شهادة الثانوية العامة محققاً نجاح باهر العام الماضي في المستوى الرفيع الأول والثاني في مادة الرياضيات وهو في الصف الحادي عشر. ستكون الدروس مكثفة بها مسائل وواجبات وامتحان في الموضوع النهائي. برجاء التأكد من حماس الطلاب للعمل باجتهاد خلال هذا الكورس المكثف ومن تكملتهم كل الواجبات التي سيتم تقديمها بعد كل درس. برجاء الاطلاع على البوستر المرفق
