Beloved ones,

Each week during the Holy 50 days, servants from St Mark will highlight the spirituality of one of the saints who were part of the story of the Resurrection.

LOVE REMAINS

In a world that fled the Cross, St. Mary Magdalene remained.

When the sky darkened and hope seemed extinguished, when even the disciples scattered (except St. John the beloved) in fear, she stood silent, steady, sorrowful at the foot of the Cross. It was not comfort or safety that drew her there, but love, a love born not of emotion, but of profound transformation.

She had once been broken. Lost. Possessed by seven demons, the Gospels tell us, but Christ did not turn away. He saw her not as the world saw her, but as she could be. And in that gaze of mercy, she was made whole. The love she received from Him became the love she returned: total, unreserved, and faithful unto the end.

St. Mary Magdalene chose the right place, not at the head of power, not in a seat of honour, not in the company of safety, but at the place of surrender, the place of pain, the place where love poured itself out for the world.

She teaches us that the greatest act of devotion is not only in following Christ in triumph, but in not turning away from Him in suffering. Her love didn’t depend on miracles or teachings. Her love remained even when all seemed lost, because she knew: even in death, He was still the Lord she loved.

And for this love, she was given a singular honour: to be the first witness of the Resurrection, the apostle to the apostles, the one trusted to carry the news that death had been conquered.

Her story invites us to ask: Where do we stand when Christ suffers? Do we flee, or do we stay?

To love as St. Mary Magdalene loved is to remain when it’s difficult, to choose the foot of the Cross over the comfort of the crowd, to trust in the dark that Resurrection is coming.

4. Lion’s Den Australia

Lion’s Den Australia is a Coptic-founded, community-focused initiative that began at St. Mark’s Church and has since grown to include men from all churches and the broader community.

It’s a safe space where men can gather, talk, and grow together.

While rooted in faith, Lion’s Den serves all men—offering programs that build skills, promote health, and strengthen wellbeing.

The focus is on connection, support, and breaking the stigma around men’s mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

5. Parking Guidelines –

Please take care of our neighbours

Please take note of the following guidelines when parking your car and take care of our neighbours:

Avoid Parking Near Driveways or Corners: Always ensure that your vehicle does not block any driveways and that you avoid parking too close to corners, which can obstruct the view for other drivers and pedestrians.

Quiet Arrival and Departure: Please be as quiet as possible when arriving and leaving in your vehicles. This consideration will help maintain the tranquillity of our neighbourhood.

No Parking on Broe Avenue: Please observe the specific rule of not parking along Broe Avenue as this creates a traffic bottleneck which is dangerous.

Respect Neighbours’ Reserved Spots: Some neighbours may place bins or other markers to reserve parking spots for their households. Out of respect for their needs and requests, please do not move these markers or park in these reserved spots.

ايها الأحباء،

كل اسبوع خلال الخمسين المقدسة، سيلقي خدام القديس مارمرقس الضوء على روحانية أحد القديسين الذين كانوا جزء من قصة القيامة.

المحبة تبقى

في عالم هرب فيه الجميع من الصليب، بقيت مريم المجدلية

عندما إظلمت السماء واضمحل الأمل، حتى التلاميذ من الخوف تفرقوا (ما عدا القديس يوحنا الحبيب)، وقفت صامتة وثابتة وحزينة عند أقدام الصليب. لم تكن الراحة أو الأمان هي التي جذبتها إلى هناك، ولكن الحب، حب لم يولد من العاطفة، ولكن من تحول عميق.

كانت يوماً مكسورة. ضائعة. تمتلكها سبعة شياطين، كما تقول لنا الأناجيل، لكن المسيح لم يكن بعيداً. لم يرها كما رآها العالم، ولكن كما يمكن أن تكون. وفي نظرة الرحمة تلك، أصبحت كاملة. أصبح الحب الذي تلقته منه هو الحب الذي أعادته: كامل وصريح ومخلص حتى النهاية.

اختارت مريم المجدلية المكان الصحيح، ليس على رأس السلطة، وليس في مقعد الشرف، وليس بصحبة السلامة، ولكن في مكان الاستسلام، مكان الألم، المكان الذي سكب فيه الحب نفسه للعالم

إنها تعلمنا أن أعظم عمل من أعمال التفاني ليس فقط في اتباع المسيح في الانتصار، ولكن في عدم الابتعاد عنه في المعاناة. لم يعتمد حبها على المعجزات أو التعاليم. بقي حبها حتى عندما بدا كل شيء ضائعا، لأنها عرفت: حتى في الموت، لا يزال هو الرب الذي تحبه.

ومن أجل هذه المحبة، منحت شرفا فريدا: أن تكون أول شاهد على القيامة، ورسول الرسل، والشخص الذي جدير بالثقة لنقل خبر هزيمة الموت.

تدعونا قصتها إلى السؤال: أين نقف عندما يعاني المسيح؟ هل نهرب، أم نبقى؟

أن نحب كما أحبت القديسة مريم المجدلية هو البقاء عندما يكون الأمر صعبا، وان نختار أن نكون عند أقدام الصليب بدلاً من الراحة وسط الجموع، وأن نثق في الظلام بأن القيامة قادمة.

إن لاينز دن أستراليا هي مبادرة مجتمعية، أسسها الأقباط، انطلقت من كنيسة القديس مار مرقس، ونمت منذ ذلك الحين لتشمل رجالًا من جميع الكنائس والمجتمع ككل. إنها مساحة آمنة يجتمع فيها الرجال ويتحدثون وينمون معًا.

مع إيمانها الراسخ، تخدم “لاينز دن” جميع الرجال، وتقدم برامج تُنمي المهارات، وتُعزز الصحة، وتُعزز الرفاهية. ينصب تركيزها على التواصل والدعم، وكسر وصمة العار المرتبطة بالصحة العقلية والعاطفية والروحية للرجال.

٤.  إرشادات عن ركن السيارات

يُرجى الانتباه إلى الإرشادات التالية عند ركن سيارتك ومراعاة الجيران

تجنب ركن السيارات بجوار مداخل المنازل أو بجانب زوايا الشارع: تأكد دائماً من عدم سد أي مداخل/مخارج المنازل والامتناع عن الركن بالقرب من زوايا الشارع حيث يتم حجب الرؤية لغيرك من سائقي السيارات والمشاة.

الوصول والمغادرة الهادئة: يُرجى التزام الهدوء على قدر الإمكان عند الوصول إلى الكنيسة وعند مغادرتها. سيساعد هذا الحرص على الاحتفاظ بهدوء وسلام منطقتنا.

عدم الركن في  Broe Avenue: يُرجى الحرص على عدم ركن السيارات في Broe Avenue مما يسبب اختناق مروري وهو أمر خطير.

احترام الأماكن المحجوزة الخاصة بالجيران. قد يضع بعض الجيران صناديق القمامة أو غيرها لحجز أماكن لسياراتهم. ينبغي احترام احتياجاتهم ورغباتهم، يرجى عدم تحريك هذه العلامات وعدم الركن في الأماكن المحجوزة.
