In his sermon last week, Fr Michael Fanous said, ‘We do not know if our lives would allow us to fast a Lent again, so take it seriously’. His words touched my heart, as Lent only comes once a year and it is the season for repentance and spiritual growth.

 

So, how can I afford to lose this Lent?

How can I afford to continue being reluctant and still not have time for my spiritual growth?

 

Do you know how long we have left of Lent this year?

–> Only two weeks before we start the fascinating and holy passion week. If we do not fast Lent properly, we will never enjoy passion week – and what a loss that will be!

 

So, how can I take the next two weeks seriously:

1. Abstain
2. Confess
3. Partake of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus as much as you can
4. Cut out social media
5. Read your bible more and daily
6. Read spiritual books
7. Show more and more love to everyone around you

3. Obstructing our Neighbours

Dear Congregation,

Particularly during this sacred time of Lent, we kindly ask everyone to be mindful of our neighbours by ensuring their driveways remain unobstructed at all times.

If you realise your vehicle is blocking a driveway, please make it a priority to move it to a more suitable location. This simple act of courtesy helps foster positive relationships with our neighbours and reflects our commitment to being respectful and responsible members of the community.

Unfortunately, we have received increasing concerns from our neighbouring friends about driveways being blocked by St. Mark’s parish members.

As followers of Christ, we are called to show love, respect and consideration to all — our neighbours, our community, and the shared environment we cherish.

Your cooperation in this matter is not only appreciated but essential in upholding the values we strive to live by.

9. No Sunday School Saturday 5 April and Sunday 6 April

Due to the annual Servants Camp, there will be no Sunday School Classes running on Saturday the 5th of April & Sunday the 6th of April as servants will be attending the Servants Camp.

10. Parking Guidelines –

Please take care of our neighbours

Please take note of the following guidelines when parking your car and take care of our neighbours:

Avoid Parking Near Driveways or Corners: Always ensure that your vehicle does not block any driveways and that you avoid parking too close to corners, which can obstruct the view for other drivers and pedestrians.

Quiet Arrival and Departure: Please be as quiet as possible when arriving and leaving in your vehicles. This consideration will help maintain the tranquillity of our neighbourhood.

No Parking on Broe Avenue: Please observe the specific rule of not parking along Broe Avenue as this creates a traffic bottleneck which is dangerous.

Respect Neighbours’ Reserved Spots: Some neighbours may place bins or other markers to reserve parking spots for their households. Out of respect for their needs and requests, please do not move these markers or park in these reserved spots.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding. Should you have any concerns or require assistance regarding parking, please feel free to contact the church office.

The family invites the congregation to join us as we commemorate and celebrate our beloved Medhat Boulos on Saturday 5^th April 2025 during the Holy Liturgy at 8:30am at St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church, Arncliffe, followed by a gathering for agape in the Church Hall.

 

Beloved Medhat Magdi Fouad Boulos is the son of Magdi and Layla Boulos, Husband to Hanna Boulos and father of Benjamin and Daniel Boulos, and Daniel’s fiancé Tiffany.

 

May God repose his pure soul in the Paradise of Joy and remember us in front of the throne of our Lord.

 لا يزال هناك فرصة

في عظته الأسبوع الماضي، قال ابونا مايكل فانوس ” لا نعلم إذا ستسمح لنا حياتنا بصوم الصوم المقدس مرة ثانية، فلنصم بجدية”.

لقد لمست كلماته قلبي، حيث أن الصوم المقدس يحدث مرة واحدة في السنة وهو موسم التوبة والنمو الروحي.

ولذلك، كيف يمكنني أن اخسر الصوم هذا العام؟ كيف يمكنني الاستمرار في التكاسل ولا يتسنى لي وقت للنمو الروحي؟

هل تعلم كم يوم متبقي على الصوم هذا العام؟ اسبوعان فقط ثم نبدأ في اسبوع الآلام المقدس والجميل. إذا لم نصم بطريقة صحيحة، لن نستمتع بأسبوع الآلام- ويا لها من خسارة!

إذاً، كيف يمكنني أن اتخذ الاسبوعين القادمين بجدية:

1. اصوم انقطاعي
2. اعترف
3. اتناول من جسد الرب ودمه على قدر المستطاع
4. أبتعد عن وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي
5. أزيد من قراءة الأنجيل يومياً
6. اقرأ كتب روحية
7. اظهر المزيد والمزيد من المحبة لكل من حولي

شعب الكنيسة المبارك

خلال الصوم المقدس على الأخص، نطلب منكم مراعاة جيراننا عن طريق التأكد من عدم إعاقة مداخل ومخارج منازلهم في كل الأوقات.

إذا لاحظت أن سيارتك تعوق ممر المنزل من فضلك انقلها على الفور إلى أي مكان آخر، أجعل من هذا الأمر أولوية. هذا التصرف البسيط الذي يعبر عن الاعتناء بهم يساعد في بناء علاقات إجابية مع جيراننا بصورة أسرع ويعكس التزامنا بالاحترام والمسؤولية تجاه أفراد المجتمع.

للأسف، تسلمنا عدد كبير من الشكاوى من اصدقائنا الجيران من قيام أعضاء كنيسة مارمرقس بإعاقة مداخل ومخارج منازلهم

كاتباع للسيد المسيح، نحن مدعوون لإظهار الاحترام والعناية بجيراننا، بمجتمعنا، وبالبيئة التي نتشاركها معاً والتي نعتز بها.

إن تعاونكم في هذا الأمر له أعظم تقدير منا وبالأخص ضروري لما نتمسك به من قيم ونجاهد لنحيا بها.
