Beloved ones,

Each week during the Holy 50 days, servants from St Mark will highlight the spirituality of one of the saints who were part of the story of the Resurrection.

 

1. St Longinus

​In his book The Seven Words of Our Lord on the Cross, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III reflects on the profound significance of Christ’s first utterance from the Cross: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34).

Pope Shenouda emphasises that this plea for forgiveness was not limited to those present at the crucifixion on Good Friday only but extends to all humanity, encompassing every sinner from the time of Adam to eternity.​ Pope Shenouda highlights the example of St. Longinus, the Roman soldier who pierced Christ’s side with a spear. He notes that St. Longinus was among those who “did not know what they were doing,” and through Christ’s intercession, he received forgiveness. The Coptic Church honours St. Longinus as a saint, commemorating his repentance and transformation.

This reflection underscores the boundless mercy of Christ, who, even in the midst of suffering, offered forgiveness to all who seek refuge in His loving and eternal sacrifice.​ The Seven Words of Our Lord on the Cross by Pope Shenouda III is a beautiful prayer and you can access it here:

3. St Mark’s Feast – Celebration and Festival

Vespers – Wednesday 7th May at 7 – 9pm – Arabic Church

Street Festival – Friday 9th May at 6 – 11pm – Broe Avenue

 

Please note – Parents must supervise their children on Friday night as the street festival is open to the wider community.

 

4. Women at the Well – Needing the Kneading

You are invited to the next Women’s social on the afternoon of Saturday 24th May on the grounds of St Johns. An event for all generations of weary women, looking to understand why we need the kneading in our day to day walk?

This will be pondered with Fr Mark as we wait for our cookies to rise in the oven. This will be another beautiful evening of spiritual fellowship and togetherness.

6. Parking Guidelines

 

Please take note of the following guidelines when parking your car and take care of our neighbours:

 

Avoid Parking Near Driveways or Corners: Always ensure that your vehicle does not block any driveways and that you avoid parking too close to corners, which can obstruct the view for other drivers and pedestrians.

Quiet Arrival and Departure: Please be as quiet as possible when arriving and leaving in your vehicles. This consideration will help maintain the tranquillity of our neighbourhood.

No Parking on Broe Avenue: Please observe the specific rule of not parking along Broe Avenue as this creates a traffic bottleneck which is dangerous.

Respect Neighbours’ Reserved Spots: Some neighbours may place bins or other markers to reserve parking spots for their households. Out of respect for their needs and requests, please do not move these markers or park in these reserved spots.

١.الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية

ايها الأحباء،

كل اسبوع خلال الخمسين المقدسة، سيلقي خدام القديس مارمرقس الضوء على روحانية أحد القديسين الذين كانوا جزء من قصة القيامة.

1. القديس لونجينوس

في  كتابه “كلمات ربنا السبع على الصليب”، يتأمل قداسة البابا شنودة الثالث في المغزى العميق لقول المسيح الأول على الصليب: “يا أبتاه، اغفر لهم، لأنهم لا يعلمون ماذا يفعلون” (لوقا ٢٣: ٣٤).

يؤكد البابا شنودة أن طلب الغفران هذا لم يقتصر على من حضروا صلب السيد المسيح يوم الجمعة العظيمة فحسب، بل امتد إلى البشرية كلها، ليشمل كل خاطئ من آدم إلى الأبد. ويسلط البابا شنودة الضوء على مثال القديس لونجينوس، الجندي الروماني الذي طعن جنب السيد المسيح بحربة. ويشير إلى أن القديس لونجينوس كان من بين أولئك الذين “لم يعلموا ماذا يفعلون”، وبشفاعة المسيح نال الغفران. وتُكرم الكنيسة القبطية القديس لونجينوس كقديس، مُخلّدةً ذكرى توبته وتغيره. يُبرز هذا التأمل رحمة السيد المسيح اللامحدودة، الذي، حتى في وسط آلامه، منح الغفران لكل من يلجأ إلى ذبيحته المحبة والأبدية. “كلمات ربنا السبع على الصليب” للبابا شنودة الثالث صلاة رائعة، يُمكنك الوصول إليها هنا: https://tasbeha.org/content/hh_books/svnwrds/

العشية- الأربعاء 7 مايو من 7-9 م – الكنيسة العربي

المهرجان في الشارع – الجمعة 9 مايو – 6-11م- Broe Avenue

يُرجى الانتباه – ينبغي على أولياء الأمور الاشراف على اطفالهم مساء الجمعة حيث أن المهرجان مفنوح للمجتمع العام

٤. نساء عند البئر – الاحتياج إلى العجن

أنتي مدعوة للقاء النساء بعد ظهر يوم السبت الموافق 24 مايو في كنيسة القديس يوحنا. حدث لكل الأعمار من النساء التعابى، اللاتي يرغبن في فهم لماذا نحتاج إلى العجن في مشوار حياتنا اليومي؟

 ٦.  إرشادات عن ركن السيارات

يُرجى الانتباه إلى الإرشادات التالية عند ركن سيارتك ومراعاة الجيران

تجنب ركن السيارات بجوار مداخل المنازل أو بجانب زوايا الشارع: تأكد دائماً من عدم سد أي مداخل/مخارج المنازل والامتناع عن الركن بالقرب من زوايا الشارع حيث يتم حجب الرؤية لغيرك من سائقي السيارات والمشاة.

الوصول والمغادرة الهادئة: يُرجى التزام الهدوء على قدر الإمكان عند الوصول إلى الكنيسة وعند مغادرتها. سيساعد هذا الحرص على الاحتفاظ بهدوء وسلام منطقتنا.

عدم الركن في  Broe Avenue: يُرجى الحرص على عدم ركن السيارات في Broe Avenue مما يسبب اختناق مروري وهو أمر خطير.

احترام الأماكن المحجوزة الخاصة بالجيران. قد يضع بعض الجيران صناديق القمامة أو غيرها لحجز أماكن لسياراتهم. ينبغي احترام احتياجاتهم ورغباتهم، يرجى عدم تحريك هذه العلامات وعدم الركن في الأماكن المحجوزة.
