Dear Congregation,
Allow me to share with you some good news regarding recent Church activity.
We recently received a good grant from the local council to build a church gym. Now there’s always a question, is having a gym in the church a good thing?
The answer is that the Church really tries to offer all the services needed by the community. We like to encourage our children to remain in the Church and provide facilities for them that make them happy. In addition to sharing this news with you, I am asking for volunteers because this will be a new and big project.
The first type of volunteer is to help us build a musical system for the gym. Koorong has a good number of Christian musical records that are suitable for sport activities. We would like some volunteers to buy and set up this system for us, as it will be a great help.
The second type of volunteers are supervisors that will open, close, and admit the appropriate patrons into the gym. This is needed for security and would be great if you can offer your time, especially if you come with your own children. We are yet to know if there will be specific timeslots allocated for male only and female only training; this will be arranged with the Fathers.
The last type of volunteers would be trainers. They need not be qualified in sport. Over the years we have observed that some people are very suitable to become trainers from merely their personality. For example, we have an engineer in our church without a health education background, but he’s very skilled in training others using stretching bands etc.
We are happy that the Church is providing resources that contribute to society and we like to see our children accommodated in the Church, enjoying their time, instead of going out to wrong environments.
If you are able to volunteer for any of these roles, please reach out to Fr Jonathan or Fr Elijah. May the Lord use this facility to His glory.

3. Feast of St Mary Saturday 23rd August 2025 Join us for a beautiful heavenly evening service starting with Vespers and Glorification on Saturday, August 23rd, at 6:00 PM.
Service will be followed by: * Veneration of relics spices (a piece of St. Habib Girgis’ burial cloth)
We’ll be giving out special gifts and holy oil.
Afterwards, we invite you to an Agape supper in the church hall to break the fast.
Your Offering: Each family is invited to bring a single red roseto be placed before St. Mary’s icon in front of the church.
May the intercessions and prayers of the Virgin St Mary be with us. |

St Mark’s Church is pleased to announce a new parking arrangement to better serve our congregation and community.
We have secured exclusive access to the Arncliffe West Infants School Car Park on Sunday mornings every week.
Location: Arncliffe West Infants School Car Park, Loftus Street
Let’s make good use of this generous opportunity to help ease parking for our neighbours and strengthen our ties with the local community.
Important to note: The carpark will be locked from 1pm on Sundays, so please ensure your cars are removed before this time.

شعب الكنيسة المبارك برجاء الاطلاع على الإعلانات التالية: ١. الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس ابونا يعقوب شعب الكنيسة المبارك اود ان أشارككم بعض الأخبار السارة المتعلقة بنشاط الكنيسة الأخير. تلقينا مؤخرا منحة جيدة من المجلس المحلي لبناء صالة ألعاب رياضية للكنيسة. دائما ما يطرح السؤال، هل وجود صالة ألعاب رياضية في الكنيسة أمر جيد؟ الجواب هو أن الكنيسة تحاول جادة تقديم جميع الخدمات التي يحتاجها الشعب. نود أن نشجع أطفالنا على البقاء في الكنيسة وتوفير المرافق لهم التي تجعلهم سعداء. بالإضافة إلى مشاركة هذه الأخبار معكم، أطلب منكم متطوعين لأن هذا سيكون مشروعا جديدا وكبيرا. النوع الأول من المتطوعين هو مساعدتنا في بناء نظام موسيقي لصالة الألعاب الرياضية. لدى Kooyong عدد لا بأس به من السجلات الموسيقية المسيحية المناسبة للأنشطة الرياضية. نود أن يقوم بعض المتطوعين بشراء هذا النظام وإعداده لنا، لأنه سيساعدنا كثيرا. النوع الثاني من المتطوعين هم المشرفون الذين سيفتحون ويغلقون ويقبلون المشتركين المناسبين في صالة الألعاب الرياضية. وهذا من أجل الأمن وسيكون رائعا إذا كان بإمكانك تقديم وقتك، خاصة إذا أتيت مع أطفالك. لم نعرف بعد ما إذا كانت هناك فترات زمنية محددة مخصصة لتدريب الذكور فقط والإناث فقط؛ سيتم ترتيب ذلك مع الآباء. آخر نوع من المتطوعين سيكون المدربين. ليس من الضروري أن يكونوا مؤهلين في الرياضة. على مر السنين لاحظنا أن بعض الناس مناسبون جدا ليكونوا مدربين بسبب طبيعة شخصيتهم فقط. على سبيل المثال، لدينا مهندس في كنيستنا بدون خلفية في التثقيف الصحي، لكنه ماهر جدا في تدريب الآخرين باستخدام أشرطة التمدد وما إلى ذلك. نحن سعداء لأن الكنيسة توفر الموارد التي تساهم في المجتمع ونود أن نرى أطفالنا يقيمون في الكنيسة، ويستمتعون بوقتهم، بدلا من الخروج إلى بيئات خاطئة. إذا كنت قادرا على التطوع لأي من هذه الأدوار، فيرجى التواصل مع ابونا جوناثان أو ابونا إيلايجا. ندعو ان يستخدم الله هذا المرفق لمجد اسمه. آمين |
