+ Martyrdom of St. Ari, the Priest of Shatanouf

Do you believe that God has blessed you with a big family of saints who love you?

To deny that we have brothers and sisters who are alive in Christ – it does not give God more honour or more glory – instead it deprives us of the family God has given us.

Some people may think we should ignore the saints so that we give more glory to God.

But we need to remember that God is not in competition with the saints. it is the opposite. God is “Glorified in His saints” (2 Thessalonians 1:10).

God loves the saints.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is known through the lives of those who follow Him and love others. (John 13:35)

God delights; He takes pleasure in His people (Psalm, 149:4, Psalm 147:11).

God does not want us to ignore our family. In the Bible we are taught to focus and learn from them (Hebrews 11). They are a part of our family. God wants us to love our family.

St Mary, our beloved mother, is a part of our family and we can have a good friendship with her. She is alive, because God is the God of the living (Mark 12:26-28)

Mother Teresa once said: “If you ever feel distressed during your day, call upon our Lady, just say this simple prayer: ‘Mary, Mother of Jesus, please be a mother to me now.’ I must admit, this prayer has never failed me.”

During the Fast of the Mother of God, join us for the second night of the Revival of St Mary where we lift our voices in praises, pour out our hearts in prayers, and reflect on her life that led us to the true Light, with our beloved Fr Jonathan.

Tasbeha starts at 6pm.

Join the celebration at this momentous event.

9:00pm -10:30pm – Vespers, Praises and talks by the Fathers.

10:30pm – 12:00am – Liturgy.

4. Feast of St Mary
Bring a Rose

Saturday 23rd August 2025

Join us for a beautiful heavenly evening service starting with Vespers and Glorification on Saturday, August 23rd, at 6:30 PM.

Service will be followed by:

* Veneration of relics spices (a piece of St. Habib Girgis’ burial cloth)
* A procession with icons
* A short talk
* A special Tasbeha in honour of St. Mary and the saints of August

We’ll be giving out special gifts and holy oil.

Afterwards, we invite you to an Agape supper in the church hall to break the fast.

Your Offering: Each family is invited to bring a single red roseto be placed before St. Mary’s icon in front of the church.

May the intercessions and prayers of the Virgin St Mary  be with us.

Distance: Only a 5-minute walk from the church

Let’s make good use of this generous opportunity to help ease parking for our neighbours and strengthen our ties with the local community.

Important to note: The carpark will be locked from 1pm on Sundays, so please ensure your cars are removed before this time.

١. الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية

هل تصدق أن الله قد باركك بعائلة كبيرة من القديسين الذين يحبونك؟

إن إنكار حقيقة أن لدينا إخوة وأخوات على قيد الحياة في المسيح – لا يعطي الله المزيد من الشرف أو المزيد من المجد – بل يحرمنا من العائلة التي أعطانا إياها الله.

قد يعتقد بعض الناس أننا يجب أن نتجاهل القديسين حتى نعطي المزيد من المجد لله.

لكننا بحاجة إلى أن نتذكر أن الله لا يتنافس مع القديسين. بل على العكس. الله “ممجد في قديسيه” (2 تسالونيكي 1:10).

الله يحب القديسين.

ربنا يسوع المسيح معروف من خلال حياة أولئك الذين يتبعونه ويحبون الآخرين (يوحنا 13:35)

الله راض عن شعبه؛ يرضى الرب بأتقيائه (مزمور، 149: 4، مزمور 147: 11).

الله لا يريدنا أن نتجاهل عائلتنا. في الكتاب المقدس يتم تعليمنا التركيز والتعلم منها (عبرانيين 11). إنهم جزء من عائلتنا. يريدنا الله أن نحب عائلتنا.

السيدة العذراء،والدتنا الحبيبة، هي جزء من عائلتنا ويمكننا أن نكون صداقة جيدة معها. إنها حية، لأن الله هو إله الأحياء (مرقس 12: 26-28)

قالت الأم تيريزا ذات مرة: “إذا شعرت بالضيق خلال يومك، فاتصل بسيدتنا، فقط قل هذه الصلاة البسيطة: “مريم، والدة يسوع، من فضلك كوني أما لي الآن”. يجب أن أعترف أن هذه الصلاة لم تخذلني أبدا.”
