Recently my family and I had the blessing of meeting with Fr Tadros Malaty. Given his age and health, I knew our meeting with him needed to be short and brief. So I asked him one question (and a follow up question). After a lifetime of powerful service across the world, serving alongside St Fr Bishoy Kamel, and authering hundreds of books on Biblical commentary and Theology, i wondered what he would boil it all down to, so I asked him, what should we be focused on in our spiritual life?
After sitting back and taking a bite of his Egyptian wafer biscuit, he smiled and said “pray and work to make the whole world know Jesus.” Such simple and focused clarity, such genuine love for our Lord and a true desire to share Him with the world. Lord give us this desire and clarity to share You with all.
He seemed to be energised by the first question, so I asked one more follow up. How can we balance service with family commitments? Although having no children himself, he answered with deep understanding. He said all work with the family is considered service. It is not seen as a waste of time or a hindrance to service, it is an extension of your service. Lord, give us this desire and clarity to serve our families.
I asked him to pray before we left him and guess what he said in his prayer? “Lord, we pray for the whole world to know you”

St Mark’s Church is pleased to announce a new parking arrangement to better serve our congregation and community.
We have secured exclusive access to the Arncliffe West Infants School Car Park on Sunday mornings every week.
Location: Arncliffe West Infants School Car Park, Loftus Street
Let’s make good use of this generous opportunity to help ease parking for our neighbours and strengthen our ties with the local community.
Important to note: The carpark will be locked from 1pm on Sundays, so please ensure your cars are removed before this time.

١.الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس ابونا مارك
حصلت قريباً أنا وعائلتي على نعمة مقابلة ابونا تادرس ملاطي. واضعا في الاعتبار عمره وصحته، كنت أعرف أن مقابلتنا معه يجب أن تكون قصيرة ومختصرة. لذلك سألته سؤالا واحدا (وسؤال أخر بعده). بعد عمر من الخدمة القوية في جميع أنحاء العالم، والخدمة جنبا إلى جنب مع القديس ابونا بيشوي كامل، وتأليف مئات الكتب لشرح الكتاب المقدس واللاهوت، تساءلت إلى ماذا سيختصر كل هذا في إجابته، لذلك سألته، ما الذي يجب أن نركز عليه في حياتنا الروحية؟
بعد الجلوس وأخذ قطعة من بسكويت الويفر المصري، ابتسم وقال “صلوا واعملوا لجعل العالم كله يعرف يسوع”. مثل هذا الوضوح البسيط والمركز، مثل هذا الحب الحقيقي لربنا والرغبة الحقيقية في مشاركته مع العالم. أعطنا الرب هذه الرغبة والوضوح لمشاركتك مع الجميع.
بدا أنه متحمس للسؤال الأول، لذلك سألت سؤال أخر. كيف يمكننا تحقيق التوازن بين الخدمة والالتزامات العائلية؟ على الرغم من عدم وجود أطفال له، إلا أنه أجاب بفهم عميق. قال إن كل عمل مع العائلة يعتبر خدمة. لا ينظر إليه على أنه مضيعة للوقت أو عائق أمام الخدمة، بل هو امتداد لخدمتك. يا رب، أعطنا هذه الرغبة والوضوح لخدمة عائلاتنا.
طلبت منه أن يصلي قبل أن نتركه ولك ان تتخيل ما قاله في صلاته؟ “يا رب، نصلي من أجل أن يعرفك العالم كله”

٢.ندوة أولياء الأمور – الأحد 14 سبتمبر سيرشدنا الطبيب النفسي القبطي إلى “كيف نربي بحكمة كأولياء أمور” انضم إلينا في الساعة 11 صباحا في الكنيسة الإنجليزي.
