St Mary in the Prophecies

Contemplation: “Through a woman death was sent forth into the world; through a woman life was sent forth into the world. Through Eve we were wounded; through Mary we were healed. Eve believed the serpent; Mary believed the angel. What the one destroyed by believing, the other restored by believing.” (St Augustine of Hippo).

Personal Reflection: St Mary obeyed God even when she did not fully understand His plan, trusting Him completely. When is a time in my life when I find it hard to obey God or do the right thing, and how can St Mary’s example help me choose obedience over fear or temptation?

Bible Knowledge Question: What did God promise would happen between the serpent, the woman, and her Seed?

Prayer: Lord God, You promised salvation from the beginning and fulfilled it through Your Holy Mother, St Mary. Teach us to obey You with humility and faith, as she did. Help us to turn away from sin and to choose what is right each day. Through the prayers of St Mary, Oh Lord, grant us peace and salvation. Amen.
