1. Weekly Spiritual Message
Spiritual message of the week by Father David:
Thomas Edison one of the greatest inventors in history only had 3 months of formal schooling. Yet his 1,093 inventions transformed the world. He defined genius as “one percent inspiration and ninety nine percent hard work”. He worked very hard for days at a time, obsessed with his projects, stopping for only short naps as a break only when it was absolutely necessary. Failure never discouraged him. When his 10,000th experiment at the storage battery failed to produce his desired result, one of his friends tried to console him. Edison’s response was “I have not failed…I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
We put so much effort in our life to be successful in our jobs. Work hard, sacrificing comfort, pleasure, sometimes even weekends, because it will help us in the long run to push forward in our career. Some of us can also be quite admirably resilient. Do we apply such principles to our spiritual lives? What measure of spiritual success could be achieved if we worked hard in our spiritual lives? Do we obsess over it? Do we sometimes even sacrifice our own comfort to mature in our spiritual success?
St Theophan the recluse says, sadly when it comes to our relationship with God even a few minutes in prayer may seem like hours have passed. Yet we can spend hours on Netflix or YouTube, and it seems as if only mere seconds have passed. Why is it that I will never skip a delicious meal to keep my stomach from starving, but I may frequently skip prayer and happily keep my spirit wanting, why is it that I can read many chapters from a big novel but I struggle to pick up the Holy Bible and read even one page. I can always get up very early to get to work on time, but I find it impossible to get up for church on Sunday.
Some people may be lucky enough to be brought up in a spiritual family, or spiritual environment…but regardless long-term spiritual success is 99% hard work and effort by Gods grace. How much effort are you putting into your relationship with God? Make the decision today, that from this day forward I will choose to focus on growing my relationship with you my Lord, and I will be resilient and not allow anything to stop me from experiencing You more and more in my life each day.
2. HG Bishop Raphael visit – Monday 7 November
HG Bishop Rafael will pray the Holy Mass with us Monday 7 November at 8:30am. Come and invite others to take the blessing.
The Sydney program for the visit of HG is attached.
3. High School Soccer – tonight Friday 14 October
High School soccer is on tonight Friday 14 October at 7-9pm, at Arncliffe youth centre for boys years 7 – 10.
4. Church Bake Sale – this weekend 15 & 16 October
The youth are hosting a bake sale this coming weekend on both Saturday and Sunday to raise money for our coffee van that we plan on using as an outreach
There will be cupcakes, brownies, slices and more!
5. Thanksgiving Australia Service – Saturday 15 October
“Come and see” what Thanksgiving Australia service is all about.
Mission services in Philippines, Nepal and Egypt. Join us on Saturday 15 October in the Church Hall after the liturgy.
6. Talking to Teens – Sunday 16 October
Join us as we discuss Effective communication and Trust with a Panel of exports from Exodus Youth Worx.

7. St Mark’s Church Studies – Term 2 starts 18 October
St Mark Church Studies announce the 2nd term enrolments. Term starts Tuesday 18 October.

8. Relaunch of St Mark’s Education Centre
The church is excited to announce the relaunch of St Marks Education Centre.
The centre is a tutoring service for Year 11 and 12 Students in a number of subjects and offered by qualified servants in the church.
There will be no tuition fees, but we ask that students, instead, consider donating a small amount to the St Wanas Foundation each class.
Lessons will be held in the Habib Girguis Building and upcoming classes are as follows:
Lessons for Statistics and Probability, Biology and Maths will begin on the week of 24 October 2022.
Lessons for Chemistry will begin on the week of 7 November 2022. For the weeks beginning 28 November 2022 and 5 December 2022, Chemistry will be held on Thursdays those weeks.
At this stage the classes will run during school term, but individual tutors may decide to continue classes during the school holidays, subject to their availability. We will advise students of any future holiday classes that may arise.

نحن نبذل الكثير من الجهد في حياتنا لننجح في وظائفنا. نعمل بكد، نضحي بالراحة والسرور، وأحيانًا حتى بعطلات نهاية الأسبوع، لأنها ستساعدنا على المدى الطويل على المضي قدمًا في حياتنا المهنية. وأحياناً أيضاً يجاهد البعض منا بشكل يثير الإعجاب. هل نطبق مثل هذه المبادئ على حياتنا الروحية؟ ما هو مقياس النجاح الروحي الذي يمكن تحقيقه إذا عملنا بجد في حياتنا الروحية؟ هل نحن شغوفون به؟ هل نقوم أحيانًا بالتضحية بالراحة حتى ننمو في نجاحنا الروحي؟
يقول القديس ثيوفان المتوحد: للأسف عندما يتعلق الأمر بعلاقتنا مع الله، حتى بضع الدقائق في الصلاة تبدو وكأنها قد مرت ساعات. ومع ذلك، يمكننا قضاء ساعات على نتفليكس أو يوتيوب، ويبدو الأمر وكأنه مجرد ثوانٍ قد مرت. لماذا لا أتخلى أبداً عن وجبة لذيذة لأجنب معدتي الجوع، لكنني كثيراً ما أتخطى الصلاة وبكل الرضا اترك روحي جائعة، فلماذا أقوم بقراءة العديد من الفصول من رواية كبيرة ولكني أجد صعوبة في قراءة صفحة واحدة من الكتاب المقدس. يمكنني دائمًا الاستيقاظ مبكرًا جدًا للوصول إلى العمل في الوقت المحدد، ولكن من المستحيل الاستيقاظ للكنيسة يوم الأحد.
قد يكون بعض الناس محظوظين بما يكفي لتربيتهم في أسرة روحية أو بيئة روحية … ولكن بغض النظر عن ذلك فإن النجاح الروحي على المدى الطويل هو ٩٩٪ من العمل الشاق والجهد بفضل نعمة الله. ما مقدار الجهد الذي تبذله في علاقتك مع الله؟ خذ قرارك اليوم، اعتبارًا من اليوم فصاعدًا، سأختار التركيز على تنمية علاقتي معك يا رب، وسأجاهد ولن أسمح لأي شيء بأن يمنعني من اختبارك أكثر وأكثر في حياتي كل يوم.

تعلن هيئة الدراسات بكنيسة سانت مارك عن التسجيل في الفصل الدراسي الثاني. ويبدأ يوم ١٨ أكتوبر
المادة ١: مقدمة في العهد الجديد – رسائل القديس بولس (مجدي قلادة)

٨.افتتاح مركز سانت مارك التعليمي
تُسر الكنيسة بالإعلان عن افتتاح مركز سانت مارك التعليمي.
يقدم المركز خدمة التدريس لطلبة الصف الحادي عشر والصف الثاني عشر في العديد من المواد ويقدمها مجموعة من خدام الكنيسة المؤهلين.
لا يوجد رسوم للدروس، ولكن نطلب من الطلبة بدلاً من دفع الرسوم، التبرع بمبلغ صغير إلى مؤسسة أنبا ونس الخيرية.
ستقام الدروس في مبنى حبيب جرجس والفصول القادمة هي كما يلي:
تبدأ الدروس في الإحصاء والاحتمالات والاحياء والرياضيات يوم ٢٤ أكتوبر ٢٠٢٢.
تبدأ الدروس في الكيمياء يوم ٧ نوفمبر.
ستُعقد دروس الكيمياء كل يوم خميس في الأسابيع بين ٢٨ نوفمبر و٥ ديسمبر.
في هذه المرحلة، ستدار الدروس خلال الفصل الدراسي، ولكن قد يختار بعض المدرسين ان يديروا الدروس خلال العطلة الدراسية حسب تواجدهم. سنخبر الطلبة بأي دروس مستقبلية قد تتوافر خلال العطلات.
