1. Weekly Spiritual Message
Spiritual message of the week by Father Jonathan:
As we are approaching the holy season and the fasting of St Mary, I thought to share with you some of my thoughts about this amazing saint, St Mary:
+ She is by far the most famous, respected, and beloved woman in the whole of human history.
+ For centuries, Christians all over the world have kept contemplating, writing about, uttering sermons about and listening to the unique virtues of this lady. I found one of the most amazing books written about St Mary is ‘Mary Mother of Jesus’ written by Mother Basilea Schlenk, a protestant nun! I encourage you to get your copy from the church bookshop and read it during this fast.
+ How can I not mention her amazing apparition over the dome of her church in El Zeitoun church in Cairo in 1968. This is by far the strongest apparition in history. It lasted 2 years, seen by millions and accompanied by thousands of healing miracles. We Copts are speechless, thanking St Mary for her love to our Coptic church, people, and land to visit us in body in the 1st century and in spirit in the 20th century.
A blessed St Mary fast.
2. St Mary Fast 24-Hour Vigils
For the occasion of the St Mary fast, 24-hour vigils will include: Adoration for St Mary and St Mark; contemplative prayer and silence. Please visit the church and share in the prayers, quite time and contemplation – to move the heart of God so to protect the church from the world and solve all issues. Starts Monday 8th August at 6pm and ends at 6pm Tuesday.
Vigil dates:
Monday 8th August from 6pm for 24 hours
Monday 15th August from 6pm for 24 hours
Monday 22nd August from 6pm for 24 hours
Note: We will need responsible servants and deacons to attend at 2-hourly intervals to keep the church open in continuous prayer. Please contact Fr. Augustinos to book a slot.
3. Night of praise and reflection
This Wednesday 10 August at 7pm with reflections from the St Mark’s Tasonies.
4. St Mark Families Fellowship Seminar
Struggling with parental anger and impatience?
St Marks English Families Service would like to invite you to a seminar on ‘Striving to be a Calmer Parent’ presented by Jessica George, Counsellor at Exodus Youth Worx.
Jessica will provide tips on how to be less reactive and more responsive towards our children.
The seminar will be held on Sunday 21 August at 11am in the Arabic Church.

7. Important Video about recycling and discarding waste at church

Important Points:
1) Recycling in the yellow bin
2) Normal rubbish in the red bin
3) Glass and plastic bottles in the purple bins so that we can get 10 cents back as part of the return and earn scheme
4) Liquids and coffee in the coffee cup bins

+ لقرون عديدة، استمر المسيحيون في جميع أنحاء العالم في التفكير والكتابة وإلقاء العظات والاستماع إلى الفضائل الفريدة لهذه السيدة. لقد وجدت أحد أكثر الكتب الجميلة التي كتبت عن القديسة مريم وهو "مريم والدة يسوع" التي كتبته الأم باسيليا شلينك -راهبة بروتستانتية! أشجعكم على الحصول على نسخة من مكتبة الكنيسة وقراءته خلال هذا الصوم.
+ كيف لا أذكر تجليها المذهل على قبة كنيستها في كنيسة الزيتون بالقاهرة عام ١٩٦٨. هذا هو أقوى تجلي في التاريخ. استمر لمدة عامين، وشاهده الملايين ورافقه الآلاف من معجزات الشفاء. نحن الأقباط عاجزون عن الكلام، نشكر القديسة مريم على حبها لكنيستنا القبطية وشعبنا وأرضنا حتى انها قامت بزيارتنا جسديًا في القرن الأول وروحياً في القرن العشرين.

الاثنين ٨ أغسطس من ٦ مساءً لمدة ٢٤ ساعة
الاثنين ١٥ أغسطس من ٦ مساءً لمدة ٢٤ ساعة
