1. Weekly Spiritual Message
Spiritual message for the week by Father Elijah:
Whenever I go to Bunnings the staff can quickly see I have no idea what I am doing – and so they simplify things for me. I always appreciate this, but then always wonder what useful tools, tips and tricks they might be withholding from me because of my ignorance. There is no way that the solution they offered me is the same they would suggest to a seasoned tradesperson! Is it possible that God deals with us in a similar way?
Abba Mark the Ascetic once said “A man advises his neighbour in accordance with what his neighbour knows. Correspondingly, God acts on one who hears Him according to the degree of his faith”. The Bible is full of examples of God dealing with those who were very faithful in a unique way. The converse is also true, and we see a powerful example of this in Matthew 13 when Jesus’ own neighbours rejected Him when He returned to Nazareth:
54 When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? 55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? 56 And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?” 57 So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” 58 Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Matt 13: 54-58
Just like the Bunnings staff did not tell me all that they could because of my lack of knowledge, the Lord did not do many mighty works in Nazareth because of their unbelief. What miracles would I see in my life if I was more faithful? What secrets would the Lord reveal to me? What problems would be solved?
If we want to increase our faith, a beautiful dialogue between Jesus and a desperate father in Mark 9 gives us some guidance on how to do this. After begging Jesus for his son to be healed, Jesus responded “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23). Again, Abba Mark’s words ring true, “God acts on one who hears Him according to the degree of his faith.” The miracle will only be possible to him who believes. The response of the father is a powerful prayer that we can all practice to increase our faith “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
May the Lord do many mighty works in our lives because of our belief.

3. Celebration of the Feast of the Cross
We celebrate the Feast of the Cross for three days: Monday 27/9, Tuesday 28/9 and Wednesday 29/9

4. Church Fathers Cars for Sale
The fathers’ 7 cars are scheduled to be replaced very soon. 3 cars are still available. We would like to offer them to the congregation first before seeking external buyers. Attached are the details of the cars.

6. Welcoming you back to church
We are looking forward to the resumption of liturgies on the Monday after NSW reaches 70% of the population over 16 being fully vaccinated. It is expected this will occur in early to mid October.
We will follow the government guidelines and the diocese direction once they are announced and this will be communicated as we get closer to the restarting of services. We ask for your prayers for the safety and well-being of all.

يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس أبونا إيلايجا:
عندما أذهب إلى Bunningsيلاحظ الموظفون بسرعة إنه ليس لدي أي فكرة عما أفعله – وبالتالي يقومون بتبسيط الأمور لي. وأقدر لهم ذلك دائماً، لكن دائماً ما أتساءل عن الأدوات والنصائح المفيدة التي قد يحجبونها عني بسبب عدم معرفتي. وبالتأكيد الحل الذي قدموه لي ليس هو نفسه الذي قد يقترحونه على مهني متمرس! فهل يمكن أن يكون الله يتعامل معنا بنفس الطريقة؟
قال ابا مرقس العابد ذات مرة "ينصح الرجل جاره وفقًا لما يعرفه جاره. بالتطابق، يعمل الله فيمن يسمعه حسب درجة إيمانه ". الكتاب المقدس مليء بأمثلة عن تعامل الله مع أولئك الذين كان لديهم ايمان حقيقي بطريقة فريدة. والعكس صحيح أيضًا، ونرى مثالًا قويًا على ذلك في متى 13 عندما رفض أقارب السيد المسيح شخصه عندما عاد إلى الناصرة:
"ولما جاء إلى وطنه كان يعلمهم في مجمعهم حتى بهتوا وقالوا: من أين لهذا هذه الحكمة والقوات؟ أليس هذا ابن النجار؟ أليست أمه تدعى مريم؟ وإخوته يعقوب ويوسى وسمعان ويهوذا؟ أوَ ليست أخوته جميعهن عندنا؟ فمن أين لهذا هذه كلها؟ فكانوا يعثرون به. وأما يسوع فقال لهم: "ليس نبي بلا كرامة إلا في وطنه وفي بيته" ولم يصنع هناك قوات كثيرة لعدم إيمانهم. متى ١٣: ٥٤ – ٥٨
تمامًا مثلما لم يخبرني موظفو Bunnings بكل ما في وسعهم بسبب نقص معرفتي، لم يقم الرب بالعديد من الأعمال المعجزية في الناصرة بسبب عدم إيمانهم. ما المعجزات التي كنت سأراها في حياتي لو كان إيماني أكثر؟ ما هي الأسرار التي كان سيكشفها لي الرب؟ ما هي المشاكل التي كان سيحلها؟
إذا أردنا زيادة إيماننا، فإن الحوار الجميل بين يسوع وأب يائس في انجيل مرقس 9 يعطينا بعض الإرشادات حول كيفية القيام بذلك. بعد أن توسل إلى يسوع من أجل شفاء ابنه، أجاب يسوع "إن كنت تستطيع أن تؤمن، فكل شيء مستطاع للمؤمن" (مرقس ٩:٢٣). وهنا تبدو كلمات ابا مرقس العابد صحيحة، "الله يعمل فيمن يسمعه حسب درجة إيمانه". المعجزة ممكنة فقط لمن يؤمن. إن رد الأب هي صلاة قوية يمكننا جميعًا ممارستها لزيادة إيماننا "أؤمن يا سيد فأعن عدم إيماني! " (مرقس٩:٢٤)
ليقوم الرب بالعديد من الأعمال المعجزية في حياتنا بسبب إيماننا.
