1. Weekly Spiritual Message
Spiritual message for this week by Father Mark:
Yesterday was a hard day. I attended the funeral and farewelled a dear friend to heaven – Mark Saman. A precious life cut too short at the young age of 31. Mark was not only a friend, but he was my neighbour, living next door to me for the last 2 years. Having lived next door to Mark, it became very clear to me that Mark was a happy man. It was obvious. He had a permanent smile on his face, I could always hear him laughing, I never saw him angry or raise his voice, his house was always open to family and friends, he treated his wife and son with selfless love and respect. He was simply a happy man.
However, I noticed he had one strange habit – he changed his car every fortnight! My kids became car enthusiasts thanks to the array of cars Mark exposed them to. One day I asked Mark, why do you change your car so often? He explained that he gets bored of his car quickly and likes to move on and experience other types of cars. Interesting philosophy. But to me this was more than a philosophy, it was a key to his permanent happiness – it was Christian detachment. He was never attached to his cars or possessions. Ready to part with them so quickly. Most of our worries in the world are due to improper earthly attachment. However, we are called to be detached from this world. St. John of the ladder offers us a simple solution – hold all things with an open hand.
We must be willing to part with the “things” of this world whenever we are asked for them. Mark held his possessions with an open hand parting with them so quickly; and ultimately he held his life before God with an open hand that he parted with so quickly.
Let us reclaim our inner joy and peace this Lent by detaching ourselves from the things of this world. When we learn what to let go of, we also learn what it is that is worth holding on to. We cannot fully walk hand in hand with our Lover – Christ, until we let go of everything else.

4. Shuttle Bus
The Shuttle bus service is back in operation from 8:15am to 12:15pm each Sunday. Please be encouraged to drop off your family at church and park at the Arncliffe car park. The shuttle bus will pick-up and drop-off drivers to prevent you from walking a long distance to church.
5. New Primary Library Grand Opening!
Please come and check out the latest spiritual books. Enjoy great prizes when kids read 3 books.
Open Saturday and Sunday. Hours: Sat: 11:30am – 1pm. Sun: 9am – 1pm. Located at 55 Station Street – enter from church grounds.

6. Reading Groups – Volunteer Request
Due to the high demand, the church needs more volunteers to help with the primary reading groups service. The service is from 6:30pm – 7:30pm on Friday nights during the school term. Ideally we need some volunteers with teaching skills (not necessarily teachers) and the ability to deal with young kids. Also, we could have some helpers to support the teachers in classes. يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع ابونا مارك،
كان اليوم يوماً صعباً، حضرت جنازة وودعت صديقًا عزيزًا إلى السماء – مارك سمعان. حياة ثمينة ولكن قصيرة للغاية انتهت في سن الحادية والثلاثين. لم يكن مارك صديقًا فحسب بل كان جاري أيضاً طوال العامين الماضيين. بعد أن عشت بجوار مارك، اتضح لي أن مارك كان رجلاً سعيدًا. كان هذا الأمر واضحاً. كانت لديه ابتسامة دائمة على وجهه، وكنت دائماً أسمعه يضحك، ولم أره أبدًا غاضبًا أو صوته مرتفعاً، وكان منزله دائمًا مفتوحًا للعائلة والأصدقاء، وكان يعامل زوجته وابنه بحب واحترام ونكران للذات. لقد كان ببساطة رجلاً سعيداً.
ومع ذلك، لاحظت أن لديه عادة غريبة – فهو يغير سيارته كل أسبوعين! أصبح أطفالي من عشاق السيارات بفضل مجموعة السيارات التي تعرضوا لرؤيتها من خلال مارك. ذات يوم سألت مارك، لماذا تغير سيارتك كثيرًا؟ وأوضح أنه يشعر بالملل سريعاً من سيارته ويحب أن يجرب أنواع أخرى من السيارات. فلسفة مثيرة للاهتمام. لكن بالنسبة لي كان هذا الأمر أكثر من مجرد فلسفة؛ لقد كان مفتاحًا لسعادته الدائمة – لقد كان انفصالًا مسيحياً. لم يكن مرتبطاً بسياراته أو ممتلكاته. على استعداد للتخلي عنهم بسرعة. تعود معظم مخاوفنا في العالم إلى ارتباط أرضي غير لائق. ومع ذلك، نحن مدعوون للانفصال عن هذا العالم. يقدم لنا القديس يوحنا الدرجي حلاً بسيطًا – أمسك كل الأشياء بيد مفتوحة.
يجب أن نكون مستعدين للتخلي عن "أشياء" هذا العالم كلما طُلب منا. احتفظ مارك بممتلكاته بيد مفتوحة فافترق عنها بسرعة؛ وفي النهاية وضع حياته أمام الله بيد مفتوحة افترق عنها بسرعة أيضاً.
دعونا نستعيد فرحنا الداخلي وسلامنا في هذا الصوم الكبير من خلال فصل أنفسنا عن أشياء هذا العالم. عندما نتعلم ما يجب التخلي عنه، نتعلم أيضًا ما يستحق التمسك به. لا يمكننا أن نسير ممسكين بيد محبوبنا بالكامل – السيد المسيح – ما لم نتخلى عن كل شيء آخر.

تصلي الكنيسة من أجل أن يكون الصوم وقتاً مقدساً للجميع. يُرجى الاطلاع على خدمات الكنيسة خلال الصوم الكبير.

٤. خدمة الاتوبيس
تعود خدمة الاتوبيس إلى العمل مرة أخرى كل أحد من ٨:١٥ صباحاً وحتى ١٢:١٥ ظهراً.
نحثكم على توصيل عائلاتكم إلى الكنيسة وترك السيارة في موقف أرنكليف للسيارات. سيقوم الاتوبيس بتوصيل السائقين من وإلى الكنيسة لمنعكم من السير مسافة طويلة للوصول إلى الكنيسة
٥. المكتبة الابتدائية
الافتتاح الكبير للمكتبة الابتدائية الجديدة – من فضلك تعال وانظر اخر ما وصلنا من الكتب الروحية.
يتمتع الأطفال بالجوائز عندما يقرأ ون ٣ كتب.

٦. مجموعات القراءة – مطلوب متطوعون
نظراً لارتفاع الطلب، تحتاج الكنيسة إلى مزيد من المتطوعين للمساعدة في خدمة مجموعات القراءة للصفوف الابتدائية. الخدمة من 6:30 – 7:30 مساء الجمعة خلال الفصل الدراسي. نحتاج إلى بعض المتطوعين ذوي المهارات التدريسية (وليس بالضرورة معلمين) والقدرة على التعامل مع الأطفال الصغار. وأيضًا، يمكن أن نستفيد ببعض المساعدين لدعم المعلمين في الفصول. يرجى الاتصال بالسيدة نانسي جريس 0404739140
