1. Weekly Spiritual Message
Spiritual message of the week by Father Elijah:
There is a passage in Philippians that really stopped me in my tracks a few weeks ago: “Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,”
Philippians 2:14-15 NKJV
I didn’t realise that there is a divine commandment that we do ALL things without complaining. We should therefore look at complaining in the same way we look at other sins of the tongue like lying, gossiping, idle chatter, flattery and so on. Moreover, there are many blessings if we refrain from complaining including: we will be blameless, harmless, children of God, without fault, and shining lights in the world!
Would you exchange all of these for the right to complain?
Now someone may say, “if my situation was not so difficult then I wouldn’t complain. This verse cannot possibly apply to me”. In 1 Peter 3:10 we read, “For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.” It is a promise from the Lord that we can claim. If we refrain from speaking evil (which includes complaining) then we will “love life and see good days”.
If an advertiser promised you that you would love life and see good days if you bought their product, you would never believe it. However, this promise comes from God “in whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (James 1:17). And it’s not an expensive product, it is absolutely free!
If you ever hear me complaining, please remind me not to throw away so many blessings in exchange for a few useless words.
2. Kids supervision at church on Friday Nights
Attention dear parents,
The church has observed an increasing number of primary and high school aged children being left at church on Friday evenings unsupervised – children have been found gathering outside the church grounds at surrounding parks and shops. Please note, there are no supervised services on Friday night apart from the School of Excellence tutoring, Scouts and Pope Athanasius Family Shield services as per their allocated times.
For the sake of your children’s safety, please do not leave them at church on Friday night unattended. The church is not be held responsible for their supervision and wellbeing.
3. Men’s BBQ – This Saturday 5 August!
Calling all men! A new service is starting to cater to men in our community called Lion’s Den. We are kicking things off with a BBQ at St Mark’s church on Saturday 5th August @ 2:30pm. Refer to the attached flyer more details and to register for the event. Contact Jim Tanios (0405735236) or Norman Mikhail (0407280282) if you have any questions.
4. Centrelink Information Session – This Thursday 8 August
A specialist officer will be leading a Centrelink information session for age pensioners. Includes information about income and assets test, gifting, travelling overseas, concession cards and home equity success scheme. Join us on Thursday 8 August at 10:30am in the church hall.
5. St Shenouda Monastery Visit – Saturday 12 August
Church buses will leave at 7am. This weekend is the last chance to purchase tickets from the bookshop. The proceeds will be donated to the monastery.
6. Parent Seminar – The Rising Cost of Living – Sunday 13 August
Join us on Sunday 13 August at 11am as Fr David discusses a Christian perspective on the rising cost of living.
7. Physics Classes
There is a golden opportunity to excel in HSC Physics – top teacher, HSC marker, recognised by NESA to develop new Physics syllabus. she is Ann Hanna.
Ann offers Physics class every Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30pm, covering module 7 of HSC Physics in seven weeks. Please speak with Fr. Yacoub on 0409666111 for details.

8.St Mary’s Revival at St Mark’s – English Church
Join us for a spiritual revival during the St Mary Fast starting from Monday 7 August. Please see the schedule below for evening talks from 7:30 – 8:15pm.
9. Street Food Festival 2023 – Saturday 9 September
We would love for all families and youth to join us on this special night to celebrate St Mary and the Coptic New Year. We will start the night with a procession at 5pm sharp with fellow Christian Churches, followed by kids and parent entertainment, food and merchant stalls, a live Christian band and more. Please see poster below.
10. St Mark’s Church Israel/Jerusalem Youth Holy Land Tour: 26th January to 5th February 2024
Visiting all the Holy Sites and touring through the Holy Land and the events around the life Our Lord Jesus to bring to you the Bible to life.

يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس ابونا إيلايجا:
"افعلوا كل شيء بلا دمدمة ولا مجادلة، لكي تكونوا بلا لوم وبسطاء، أولاد الله بلا عيب في وسط جيل معوج وملتو، تضيئون بينهم كأنوار في العالم" فيلبي 2: 14-15
لم أدرك أن هناك وصية إلهية بأن نفعل كل شيء دون تذمر. لذلك يجب أن ننظر إلى الشكوى بنفس الطريقة التي ننظر بها إلى خطايا اللسان الأخرى مثل الكذب، والنميمة، والثرثرة، والتملق، وغيرهم.. كما أن هناك بركات كثيرة إذا امتنعنا عن التذمر، منها: أن نكون بلا لوم، غير مضرين، أولاد الله، بلا عيب، ومضيئين في العالم!
هل تستبدل كل هذه بحق الشكوى؟
الآن قد يقول أحد، "لو لم يكن وضعي صعب ما كنت أشتكي. لا يمكن أن تنطبق علي هذه الآية". ولكن نقرأ في رسالة بطرس الأولى 3:10، "لأن من اراد ان يحب الحياة و يرى أياما صالحة فليكفف لسانه عن الشر، وشفتيه عن التكلم بالغش."
إنه وعد من الرب يمكننا أن نطالبه به. إذا امتنعنا عن التكلم بالشر (بما في ذلك الشكوى) فسوف "نحب الحياة ونرى أيامًا صالحة."
إذا وعدك أحد من خلال الإعلانات بأنك ستحب الحياة وترى أيامًا صالحة إذا اشتريت منتجه، فلن تصدق أبدًا. ولكن، هذا الوعد هو من الله " الذي ليس عنده تغيير ولا ظل دوران" (يعقوب 1:17). وهو ليس منتج باهظ الثمن، إنه مجاني تمامًا!
إذا سمعتني يومًا ما أشكو، ارجوك أن تذكرني بألا اضحي بكثير من البركات مقابل بضع كلمات عديمة الفائدة.
٢. الاشراف على الأطفال في الكنيسة مساء يوم الجمعة
أولياء الأمور الأعزاء، يُرجى الانتباه لما يلي،
لاحظت الكنيسة أنه يتم ترك عددًا متزايدًا من الأطفال في سن المدارس الابتدائية والثانوية في الكنيسة مساء أيام الجمعة دون إشراف كما اكتشفنا تجمع بعض الأطفال خارج الكنيسة في الحدائق والمتاجر المحيطة. يُرجى ملاحظة أنه لا توجد خدمات خاضعة للإشراف مساء أيام الجمعة باستثناء الدروس الخصوصية بمدرسة اكاديميك اكسلنس والكشافة وخدمة البابا أثناسيوس فاميلي شيلد وفقًا للأوقات المخصصة لهم.
حفاظًا على سلامة أطفالكم، يُرجى عدم تركهم في الكنيسة مساء أيام الجمعة دون إشراف. الكنيسة ليست مسؤولة عن الإشراف عليهم وعن سلامتهم.
٣. وجبة طعام مشوي للرجال – 5 اغسطس
دعوة لكل الرجال! نبدء خدمة جديدة للرجال في جاليتنا تدعى "لاينز دن"(جب الأسود). سنبدء بتقديم وجبة طعام مشوي في كنيسة القديس مارمرقس يوم السبت الموافق 5 أغسطس الساعة 2:30 ظهراً. برجاء الاطلاع على البوستر المرفق

سيقوم موظف متخصص بتقديم جلسة معلومات عن سنترلينك للمتقاعدين. تتضمن الجلسة معلومات عن الدخل وتقييم الأصول، الهدايا، السفر إلى الخارج، بطاقات الأمتياز وبرنامج إمكانية الوصول إلى ما تملكه في منزلك. انضم إلينا يوم الخميس الموافق 8 أغسطس في قاعة الكنيسة الساعة 10:30 صباحاً
٥. زيارة دير الانبا شنودة – السبت 12 اغسطس
ستتحرك اتوبيسات الكنيسة الساعة 7 صباحاً. برجاء شراء التذاكر من المكتبة. سيتم التبرع بالعائد إلى الدير
٦. ندوة للوالدين – ارتفاع تكاليف المعيشة– الأحد 13 أغسطس
انضم إلينا يوم الأحد 13 أغسطس الساعة 11 صباحاً مع قدس أبونا ديفيد لمناقشة المنظور المسيحي عن ارتفاع تكاليف المعيشة
٧. دروس الفيزياء
هناك فرصة ذهبية للتفوق في مادة الفيزياء للصف الثالث الثانوي- أفضل مدرس- مصحح لامتحانات الثانوية العامة- معترف به من قبل NESA لتطوير منهج جديد لمادة الفيزياء. الاستاذة "آن حنا"
تقدم "آن" فصل الفيزياء يوم الأحد من 1:30 – 4:30 ظهراً، وتغطي module 7 من فيزياء الثانوية العامة على سبعة أسابيع

٩. مهرجان ستريت فود لعام 2023 – السبت 9 سبتمبر
نود أن تنضم إلينا كل العائلات والشباب في هذه الأمسية الخاصة للاحتفال بالسيدة العذراء والسنة القبطية الجديدة. سنبدء الأمسية بزفة (موكب) في تمام الساعة 5 عصراً مع الكنائس المسيحية الأخرى ثم يتبعها انشطة ترفيهية للأطفال وأولياء الأمور، أكشاك الطعام والمنتجات، فرقة مسيحية والمزيد. برجاء الاطلاع على البوستر المرفق.
