1. Weekly Spiritual Message
Spiritual message of the week by Father Mark:
“Save us from inflation” -Coptic Orthodox Tasbeha (Midnight Psalmody)
Yes, do you believe this prayer is part of the concluding litany of Tasbeha? It always struck me as odd, in the midst of such divine praises, to pray to be saved from inflation.
However, it doesn’t seem that odd anymore! Inflation is soaring and we are feeling it in the cost of everything. What makes it worse, is the Reserve bank’s aggressive approach to increasing interest rates to slow inflation. So the financial burden increases on all fronts. The Reserve bank should just learn Tasbeha. Anyway, I love how God and the Church are interested in small details of our lives. It is comforting to know that we have a God who feels our pains and shares our burdens. It’s special how we can live out each day knowing that the Almighty One is by my side. Thanks to our mother the Church for reminding us of the care of our Father God.
2.Vesper of the Feast of St Abaskhrion El-Alini
Join us to celebrate the Vesper of the Feast of the Martyrdom of St Abaskhrion El-Alini.
Vesper will be on Tuesday 13th June 2023 at 7pm.
The church will be changing the spices of the relics, procession, glorification, and talk followed by cakes, coffee and gift.
Please join us for a blessed evening.
May the prayers and intersessions of St Abaskhrion be with us all.
3. Walking in Pain
Dr. Stephen Gibson, who is an experienced Pain Medicine Physician, has been invited to St Mark Church give a talk about managing pain. Suits the elderly, carers, and all those managing pain.
Join us in the Arabic Church on Sunday 18 June at 11am.
4. Kids supervision at church on Friday Nights
Attention dear parents,
The church has observed an increasing number of primary and high school aged children being left at church on Friday evenings unsupervised – children have been found gathering outside the church grounds at surrounding parks and shops. Please note, there are no supervised services on Friday night apart from the School of Excellence tutoring, Scouts and Pope Athanasius Family Shield services as per their allocated times.
For the sake of your children’s safety, please do not leave them at church on Friday night unattended. The church is not to be held responsible for their supervision and wellbeing.

7. Bereavement Announcement for beloved Nadia Sharobim Gerges
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
On Wednesday evening on the 7th June 2023, the Lord’s servant Nadia Sharobim Gerges passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father.
Nadia was the wife of Nazmi Gerges, the most loving mother of the late George Gerges, wife of Melissa Gerges, and mother of Nansi Philips, wife of Monir Philips. Adored Grandmother to Julian & Noah Gerges, Isaiah & Immanuel Philips. Sister of Rafik & Saffa Sharobim, loving Aunt to Mina, Peter & Madonna Rafik, Maria, Nardeen & Kirollos Raouf.
The family will be accepting condolences on Saturday 10th June between 5:00-7:00pm @ St.Mary & St.Merkorious Coptic Orthodox Church (Abu Sefein), 2 Cavell Ave, Rhodes.
The blessings of the funeral service will be held on Thursday 15th June at 11:00 am @ St. Mary & St. Merkorious Coptic Orthodox Church (Abu Sefein), 2 Cavell Ave, Rhodes.
The family will be laying Nadia to rest at Rookwood Cemetery, followed by the wake and sharing of a mercy meal (agaby) at the church.
May God repose Nadia’s soul in the Paradise of Joy.

نجنا من الغلاء – التسبحة القبطية الأرثوذكسية (تسبحة منتصف الليل)
نعم، هل تصدق أن هذه الصلاة جزء من الصلاة الختامية للتسبحة؟ كثيراً ما استغربت، أن في وسط مثل هذه التسبيحات الإلهية، أن نصلي للنجاة من الغلاء.
ولكن، لم يعد هذا غريباً! الغلاء آخذ في الارتفاع ونحن نشعر به في تكلفة كل شيء. ما يزيد الأمر سوءًا هو أن البنك الاحتياطي بدأ في زيادة أسعار الفائدة لإبطاء التضخم. لذا فإن العبء المالي يزداد على جميع الجبهات. على البنك الاحتياطي ان يتعلم فقط التسبحة. على أي حال، أقدر جداً كيف يهتم الله والكنيسة بالتفاصيل الصغيرة لحياتنا. ومن دواعي الراحة أن نعرف أن لدينا إلهًا يشعر بآلامنا ويشاركنا الأعباء. وأيضاً نشعر بقيمة خاصة عندما نعيش كل يوم ونحن على يقين بأن الله القدير بجانبنا. شكراً لأمنا الكنيسة على تذكيرنا برعاية الله الآب.

العشية يوم الثلاثاء الموافق ١٣ يونيو ٢٠٢٣ الساعة ٧ مساءً
ستقوم الكنيسة بتغير الحنوط على الرفات، الزفة والتمجيد والكلمة ثم كيك وقهوة وهدية.

٣.الحياة مع الألم
تم دعوة الدكتور ستيفن جيبسون، وهو طبيب ذو خبرة كبيرة في علاج الألم، إلى كنيسة سانت مارك ليحدثنا عن التعامل مع الألم. سيناسب الموضوع كبار السن والقائمين بالرعاية وكل من يعاني من الألم.
شاركنا في الكنيسة العربي يوم الأحد الموافق ١٨ يونيو الساعة ١١ صباحاً.
٤.الاشراف على الأطفال في الكنيسة مساء يوم الجمعة
أولياء الأمور الأعزاء، يُرجى الانتباه لما يلي،
لاحظت الكنيسة أنه يتم ترك عددًا متزايدًا من الأطفال في سن المدارس الابتدائية والثانوية في الكنيسة مساء أيام الجمعة دون إشراف – كما اكتشفنا تجمع بعض الأطفال خارج الكنيسة في الحدائق والمتاجر المحيطة. يُرجى ملاحظة أنه لا توجد خدمات خاضعة للإشراف مساء أيام الجمعة باستثناء الدروس الخصوصية بمدرسة اكاديميك اكسلنس والكشافة وخدمة البابا أثناسيوس فاميلي شيلد وفقًا للأوقات المخصصة لهم.
حفاظًا على سلامة أطفالكم، يُرجى عدم تركهم في الكنيسة مساء أيام الجمعة دون إشراف. الكنيسة ليست مسؤولة عن الإشراف عليهم وعن سلامتهم.

السيدة نادية هي زوجة نظمي جرجس، ووالدة كل من المتنيح جورج جرجس زوج مليسا جرجس، ونانسي فيلبس زوجة منير فيلبس. وجدة جوليان ونوا جرجس، إيزايا وإيمانويل فيلبس. واخت كل من رفيق وصفاء شاروبيم، وعمة كل من مينا وبيتر ومادونا رفيق وخالة ماريا وناردين وكيرلس رؤوف.
ستتلقى العائلة العزاء يوم السبت الموافق ١٠ يونيو من الساعة ٥ -٧ مساءً بكنيسة السيدة العذراء والقديس مرقوريوس أبو سيفين في 2 Cavell Ave, Rhodes
