Contemplation (verse 20): Abraham trusted God even though God gave him no proof, nor even a sign. Rather, there were only mere words promising things which by nature were impossible. (+ St John Chrysostom)

Personal Reflection: Abraham’s faith was not passive but rather he trusted God even when it felt impossible to do so (Promise of a nation even in old age, sacrificing Isaac his son). Do we actively work on our faith and obedience the way Abraham did to obtain righteousness?

Bible Knowledge Question: Which Psalm does St Paul refer to in this chapter?

Prayer: Dear Lord, who gives life to the dead and hope to the hopeless, Strengthen my faith. Teach me to trust Your promises, even when I cannot see. Help me walk in obedience, not out of fear, but because I love You. Grant me to be justified by Your grace and to glorify You with my whole life.
