Contemplation (verse 23): We ought not to be puffed up or severe on those of ancient times, but ought ourselves to fear, lest after we have come to the knowledge of Christ we obtain no further forgiveness of sins. If later we do things displeasing to God, we are shut out of his kingdom. (+ Irenaeus of Lyons)

Personal Reflection: How often do we boast in ourselves (I have prayed, read the Bible, gone to church) thinking that we then deserve to live eternally with God? We must reflect that there is nothing we can do to EARN this, but rather know that we are saved by God’s grace which was given to us freely

Bible Knowledge Question: Ultimately, in this chapter, what does St Paul say is required for our salvation?

Prayer: Dear Lord, sometimes we look at our spiritual life as ticking off boxes not realising Lord that there is nothing we can do to earn our salvation except through our genuine faith in Jesus Christ and partaking of the sacraments
