Contemplation (verse 1-4): Jerusalem, once full of people, now sits desolate. Her tears flow because she turned from God. Jeremiah’s lament is not despair, but the sorrow of repentance. The prophet grieves because love has been wounded by sin. Yet even in this mourning there is hope, for true lament brings the soul back to God’s mercy. + St Gregory the Theologian

Personal Reflection: When you experience regret or guilt, do you allow it to push you away from God, or to draw you back to Him in repentance?

Bible Knowledge Question: How is Jerusalem described, and what caused her downfall?

Prayer: Lord, give me a heart that feels sorrow for sin, not to despair but to return to You. Heal me and restore me when I fall, and help me to cling to Your mercy.
