Contemplation
“The word of God is not set upon complimenting, flattering, or faltering between the good and the evil; but is set upon the destruction of evil to set the good in its place; or is set upon the crucifixion of the old man, to proclaim the resurrection of the New Man.”
+ Fr Tadros Malaty

Personal Reflection
Do we find it uncomfortable to read about the chastisement of the people of Israel in the bible? Do we try to shy away from these verses and just focus on the verses which have promises of comfort? Whilst the promises of comfort are beautiful, we need to also have soft hearts to hear the truth and ask God for our weaknesses to be revealed so we can return to Him and allow Him to uproot the old man.

Bible Knowledge Question
We see promises of comfort and mercy fill the New Testament and some harsh words of chastisement in the book of Amos and throughout parts of the Old Testament. How should we regard and perceive these harsh verses?

Prayer
Lord, I have sinned and fallen short. Help me to remember that my salvation is only through Your grace.
