Contemplation
For the servant of God had not got away, but stood firm without a thought of fear. The Church prayed for him, but the Apostle slept in prison, a proof that he was not in fear. An angel was sent to rouse him as he slept, by whom Peter was led forth out of prison, and escaped death for a time”.

In the face of my faith being challenged, how can I be sure I will respond like the apostles and be steadfast in the faith? By my own goodness/power, or by leaning on God?

Prayer
Lord, as you helped Peter escape from prison, help me to trust that you will lead me out of the dark and into your light. May I focus on You, even when life gets hard. You struck Herod, who didn’t give glory to God – help all my life to glorify You.
