One of the most beautiful, and I feel underrated, things a Christian can do is surrender. It’s a word that brings images of weakness, defeat and despair. For us as Christians, however, surrender is an act of faith. It is acknowledging that God is loving, powerful and strong, while we are limited in our understanding and strength. Surrender means saying, “Lord, Your wisdom, Your timing, and Your plans are higher than mine. I will obey and trust You, even when I do not understand.”

 

This does not mean giving up or ignoring our responsibilities. It means faithfully doing our best, while entrusting the outcome to Him and living in peace! As we read in Proverbs: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5–6

 

And what is the outcome of a life of surrender? A beautiful paradox. The more tightly we cling to control and a certain outcome, the more anxious we become. Yet when we faithfully do our part and surrender ourselves to the providence and love of God, we discover true peace.

 

We surrender control—recognising that we never had it in the first place—and in doing so, we find freedom from anxiety. We stop carrying burdens that were never ours to bear and instead place them into the hands of God. Or as Fr Aug reminds us every Good Friday, leave them at the foot of the cross.

 

May the Lord grant us hearts that surrender to Him, trusting that His plans are always greater than our own. May we learn to truly pray: “Not my will, but Yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42)

5.  St Paul’s Service extended to Friday evenings

St. Paul has extended its services to include Friday evening services in addition to our regular Sunday morning services.

To help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, please note the following reminders:

 

1. No High School Teens at Church on Friday night – No High School children are to attend Church on Friday nights.

 

2. Noise Consideration After 10:00 PM – We ask everyone to be mindful of noise levels after 10:00 PM out of respect for our neighbours.

 

3. Safety of Children and Teens – Children should not be alone in isolated or poorly lit areas of the church property. We encourage everyone to stay in well-lit, supervised areas at all times.

The St Paul team will be wearing a blue vest. Please reach out if you need any kind of help at the church.

١. الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية

يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس ابونا إيلايجا

من أجمل الأمور التي يستطيع المسيحي أن يفعلها، والتي أشعر أنها لا تنال التقدير الكافي، هي الاستسلام لله. إنها كلمة قد تستحضر صور الضعف والهزيمة واليأس. أما بالنسبة لنا كمسيحيين، فإن الاستسلام هو فعل إيماني. إنه اعتراف بأن الله محبّ، قدير وقوي، بينما نحن محدودون في فهمنا وقوتنا. والاستسلام يعني أن نقول: “يا رب، حكمتك وتوقيتك وخططك أسمى من حكمتي وتوقيتي وخططي. سأطيعك وأثق بك حتى عندما لا أفهم.”

هذا لا يعني أن نستسلم لليأس أو نتجاهل مسؤولياتنا، بل يعني أن نبذل أفضل ما لدينا بأمانة، مع وضع النتائج بين يديه والعيش بسلام. وكما نقرأ في سفر الأمثال:

“تَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الرَّبِّ بِكُلِّ قَلْبِكَ، وَعَلَى فَهْمِكَ لاَ تَعْتَمِدْ. فِي كُلِّ طُرُقِكَ اعْرِفْهُ، وَهُوَ يُقَوِّمُ سُبُلَكَ.”

(أمثال 3: 5–6)

وما هي ثمرة حياة الاستسلام لله؟ إنها مفارقة جميلة. فكلما تشبثنا أكثر بالسيطرة وبنتيجة معينة، ازداد قلقنا. أما عندما نقوم بدورنا بأمانة ونسلم أنفسنا لعناية الله ومحبته، فإننا نكتشف السلام الحقيقي.

نحن نتخلى عن وهم السيطرة، مدركين أننا لم نكن نملكها منذ البداية، وفي ذلك نجد الحرية من القلق. نتوقف عن حمل الأثقال التي لم تكن يومًا من نصيبنا، ونضعها بين يدي الله. أو كما يذكّرنا ابونا أوغسطينوس كل يوم جمعة عظيمة: اتركوها عند أقدام الصليب.

ليمنحنا الرب قلوبًا مستسلمة له، واثقة بأن خططه أعظم دائمًا من خططنا. وليعلّمنا أن نصلي بصدق:

“لَتكن لا إِرَادَتِي بَلْ إِرَادَتُكَ.”

(لوقا 22: 42)

٣. مد خدمة القديس بولس لتشمل مساء يوم الجمعة

أفراد عائلة الكنيسة الأعزاء ،

تهتم خدمة القديس بولس في كنيسة القديس مار مرقس بالحفاظ على سلامة وأمن أفراد الكنيسة. وابتداءً من هذا الأسبوع، ستُوسّع الخدمة نطاق عملها ليشمل مساء يوم الجمعة، بالإضافة إلى خدماتها المعتادة صباح يوم الأحد.

وللمساعدة في توفير بيئة آمنة ومرحّبة للجميع، نرجو ملاحظة النقاط التالية:

1. عدم حضور طلاب المرحلة الثانوية إلى الكنيسة مساء الجمعة

يُرجى عدم حضور طلاب المرحلة الثانوية إلى الكنيسة مساء يوم الجمعة.

2. مراعاة مستوى الضوضاء بعد الساعة 10:00 مساءً

نرجو من الجميع الحرص على خفض مستوى الضوضاء بعد الساعة 10:00 مساءً احترامًا لجيران الكنيسة.

3. سلامة الأطفال والشباب

يجب ألا يتواجد الأطفال بمفردهم في المناطق المعزولة أو ضعيفة الإضاءة في الكنيسة. ونشجّع الجميع على البقاء في الأماكن المضيئة وتحت الإشراف في جميع الأوقات.

سيرتدي أعضاء فريق القديس بولس سترة زرقاء. يُرجى عدم التردد في التواصل معهم إذا كنتم بحاجة إلى أي نوع من المساعدة داخل الكنيسة.
