The Fire That Changed the World

 

Pentecost was the day the world changed forever. The Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and transformed ordinary men into vessels of divine power.

 

These were not philosophers, rulers, or men trained in worldly wisdom. They were simple fishermen, tax collectors, weak, fearful, doubtful, and at times hiding behind locked doors. Peter denied Christ. Thomas doubted. The disciples fled at the Cross. Yet through the fire of the Holy Spirit, they were completely transformed.

 

The fearful became fearless.

The doubtful became faithful.

The weak became powerful.

The simple became filled with heavenly wisdom.

 

They emerged preaching boldly before nations and kings, carrying a wisdom the world could not resist. The same men who once trembled before a servant girl now faced prisons, torture, and death without fear.

 

How profound that God chose not the mighty and educated, but simple men, so that the power would clearly be seen as coming from Him alone. Pentecost is the triumph of divine grace over human weakness. The Apostles did not conquer the world by wealth, politics, or the sword, but by the fire of the Holy Spirit burning within them, and through them the Gospel spread across the earth and “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6).

 

Pentecost reminds us that Christianity is not merely teachings or rituals, it is transformation. The same Holy Spirit who descended upon the Apostles desires to renew, sanctify, strengthen, and fill our souls with the life of Christ and the experience of His divine love.

 

How do we ignite the Holy Spirit within us? By removing distractions and worldly attachments, living in prayer, repentance, unity, waiting upon God, immersion in His Word, participation in the holy sacraments, and cultivating a heart that thirsts deeply for Him.

 

As dry wood catches fire, so the soul that sincerely seeks God becomes kindled by the flame of the Holy Spirit.

 

A good practice during the Apostles fast is that we read the book of Acts together.

Honoring feast of  Martyrdom of  St Abaskharion and all the Saints of the month of June.

• 6:30 PM Vespers, Glorification, Changing of St. Abaskharion Relic Spices, Procession, Short Talks & Gifts
• 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM  Heavenly Tasbeha at Candlelight
• 9:00 PM  Agape Meal & Cutting of the Cake

Come and share in this blessed evening as we celebrate the Saints of the month together in joy, light, and fellowship.

١. الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية

يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس ابونا أغسطينوس

النار التي غيّرت العالم

كان يوم حلول الروح القدس اليوم الذي تغيّر فيه العالم إلى الأبد. ففيه حلّ الروح القدس على الرسل، وحوّل رجالًا عاديين إلى أوانٍ مملوءة بالقوة الإلهية.

لم يكونوا فلاسفة أو حكّامًا أو رجالًا متعلّمين بحكمة العالم، بل كانوا صيادي سمك بسطاء وجباة ضرائب، ضعفاء وخائفين ومترددين، وأحيانًا مختبئين خلف أبواب مغلقة. أنكر بطرس المسيح، وشكّ توما، وهرب التلاميذ عند الصليب. لكن بنار الروح القدس تغيّروا بالكامل.

صار الخائفون شجعانًا بلا خوف.

وصار المتشككون مؤمنين ثابتين.

وصار الضعفاء أقوياء.

وامتلأ البسطاء بحكمة سماوية.

خرجوا يكرزون بجرأة أمام الأمم والملوك، حاملين حكمة لم يستطع العالم مقاومتها. فالرجال أنفسهم الذين ارتعدوا يومًا أمام جارية، صاروا يواجهون السجون والعذابات والموت بلا خوف.

ما أعمق أن الله لم يختر الأقوياء والمتعلمين، بل اختار رجالًا بسطاء، لكي يظهر بوضوح أن القوة آتية منه وحده. إن عيد حلول الروح القدس هو انتصار النعمة الإلهية على الضعف البشري. لم يغلب الرسل العالم بالمال أو السياسة أو السيف، بل بنار الروح القدس المتقدة في داخلهم، ومن خلالهم انتشرت البشارة إلى أقاصي الأرض و«قلبوا العالم رأسًا على عقب» (أعمال الرسل 17: 6).

تذكّرنا العنصرة أن المسيحية ليست مجرد تعاليم أو طقوس، بل هي تحوّل وتجديد للحياة. فالروح القدس نفسه الذي حلّ على الرسل يرغب أن يجدّدنا ويقدّسنا ويقوّينا ويملأ نفوسنا بحياة المسيح واختبار محبته الإلهية.

كيف نُشعل عمل الروح القدس في داخلنا؟ بإزالة المشغوليات والارتباطات العالمية، والعيش في الصلاة والتوبة والوحدة، وانتظار الله، والتعمّق في كلمته، والمشاركة في الأسرار المقدسة، وتنمية قلب متعطش إليه بكل صدق.

وكما يشتعل الخشب اليابس بالنار، كذلك النفس التي تطلب الله بإخلاص تتقد بلهيب الروح القدس.

ومن الممارسات الروحية الجميلة خلال صوم الرسل أن نقرأ معا سفر أعمال الرسل

 

٢.قداس ذو تحفيز حسي منخفض– الساعة 9 صباحًا، السبت 6 يونيو

تم إعداد هذا القداس للأطفال وعائلاتهم ممن يستفيدون من أجواء أكثر هدوءًا داخل كنيسة الأنبا ونس.

سيُقام في أول سبت من كل شهر ابتداءً من 6 يونيو.

احتفالًا بعيد استشهاد القديس أبسخيرون وجميع قديسي شهر يونيو.

رفع بخور عشية، تمجيد، تغيير حنوط رفات القديس أبسخيرون، زفة، كلمات روحية قصيرة، وتوزيع هدايا.

7:30 مساءً – 9:00 مساءً:

تسبحة سماوية على ضوء الشموع.

9:00 مساءً:

وجبة أغابي وقطع التورتة.
