In Matthew 8:26 we read “But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”
In typical St John Chrysostom fashion, he notices something subtle but striking. Before Jesus rebuked the winds and sea, He rebuked the disciples for their fear and lack of faith. This teaches us that the greater storm sometimes lies inside the heart.
Too often when going through the storms of life, we are waiting for tomorrow. I’ll have peace when this passes, next week, next month, next relationship, next Christmas, next scan, next job, and so on.
But the Lord can calm the storm in our hearts now, even whilst the storm in the sea rages. He can calm this storm by comforting us in prayer, accepting our fast, and revealing Himself in the scriptures. He can calm the storm as we participate in the sacramental life of the church. As His children, we need to run to Him, trust Him and submit our lives to Him.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Let us pray that the Lord calms the storm in our hearts. |

1. Liturgies – Daily – 5.00am – 7.00am – Daily – 8:30am – 10:30am – Wednesdays & Fridays – 1.00pm – 3.00pm – Thursdays – 5.00pm – 7.00pm
2. Vespers & Spiritual Meeting – Every Saturday evening starting at 7.00pm – Attended by all church fathers – Followed by agapi served by the fathers – The theme is the Lord’s prayer – ‘Our Father’
3. Nightly Meetings and Activities A chance to visit the church every night during Lent: – Monday – Bible Study – Arabic & English – Tuesday – Tasbeha – English – 8.00pm – Wednesday – Prayers & hymns meeting – Arabic & English – 7.00pm – Thursday – Tasbeha – English – 8.30pm – Friday – Youth meetings [English] & Family meeting [Arabic]
4. Daily Sermons – During the 8:30am liturgy – Covering one different theme each week.
5. Confessions – Wednesday nights -7pm – Sunday after the mass – Other times as arranged by church fathers

Honouring our contemporary Saint Pope Kyrillos, Abouna Faltaous and Abouna Bishoy Kamel and all the saints of the month of March.

Program of the Evening: 6:30 PM : Vespers, Glorification, Changing of Relics Spices, Short Talks, by church fathers 7:30 PM–9:00 PM : Heavenly Tasbeha by Candlelight 9:00 PM : Agape Meal, served by the church fathers, Gifts & Cutting of the Cake

شعب الكنيسة المبارك، يُرجى الاطلاع على الإعلانات التالية:
١. الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية يقدم رسالة هذا الاسبوع قدس ابونا إيلايجا،
في إنجيل متى 8:26 نقرأ: «فقال لهم: ما بالكم خائفين يا قليلي الإيمان؟ ثم قام وانتهر الرياح والبحر فصار هدوء عظيم». وبالطريقة المعهودة لدى القديس يوحنا الذهبي الفم، يلاحظ أمراً دقيقاً لكنه لافت. فقبل أن ينتهر يسوع الرياح والبحر، انتهر التلاميذ أولاً بسبب خوفهم وقلة إيمانهم. وهذا يعلّمنا أن العاصفة الأكبر قد تكون أحياناً داخل القلب. كثيراً ما نمر بعواصف الحياة ونحن ننتظر الغد. نقول: سأحصل على السلام عندما تمر هذه الأزمة… الأسبوع القادم، الشهر القادم، في العلاقة القادمة، في عيد الميلاد القادم، بعد الفحص الطبي القادم، أو في الوظيفة القادمة، وهكذا. لكن الرب يستطيع أن يهدئ العاصفة في قلوبنا الآن، حتى بينما ما تزال العاصفة في البحر هائجة. يمكنه أن يهدئ هذه العاصفة عندما يعزّينا في الصلاة، ويقبل صومنا، ويكشف لنا ذاته في الأسفار المقدسة. كما يهدئها عندما نشارك في اسرار الكنيسة. وبصفتنا أبناءه، نحتاج أن نسرع إليه، ونثق به، ونسلّم حياتنا له. كما يقول الكتاب في رسالة فيلبي 4:6–7: «لا تهتموا بشيء، بل في كل شيء بالصلاة والدعاء مع الشكر، لتُعلَم طلباتكم لدى الله؛ وسلام الله الذي يفوق كل عقل يحفظ قلوبكم وأفكاركم في المسيح يسوع».
فلنصلِّ أن يهدئ الرب العاصفة في قلوبنا.
٢. البرنامج الروحي خلال الصوم الكبير
بالإضافة إلى ما سبق، يومي الأربعاء والجمعة من 1–3 ظهرًا قداس، ويوم الخميس من 5–7 مساءً.
الاثنين: اجتماع دراسة الكتاب المقدس (عربي وإنجليزي) الساعة 7 مساءً. الثلاثاء: تسبحة الساعة 8:30 مساءً. الأربعاء: اجتماع صلوات وترانيم الساعة 7 مساءً (بالكنيسة العربية). الخميس: تسبحة الساعة 9:30 مساءً. مساء الجمعة: اجتماع الشباب (إنجليزي) واجتماع الأسرة (عربي).
