Contemplation (verse 23)
“Grace goes before the faithful when they act with courage rooted in God. Esther did not rely on beauty or human favour, but on the fasting, prayers, and the mercy of the Lord. Her boldness was gentle; her strength was clothed in humility. She approached the king not with confidence in herself, but with confidence in the God who turns hearts like streams of water. Thus the Lord magnifies the small steps of the righteous: a quiet entrance, a simple touch of the sceptre, a humble invitation — and through these, He begins to overturn the plans of the wicked.”
+ St John Chyrsostom
Personal Reflection
Esther took one of the biggest risks of her life — stepping into the king’s presence uninvited. But before she acted, she prayed, fasted, and asked others to pray with her. Do I pray before big decisions, or do I act on my own strength?
Bible Knowledge Question
What did the king do when Esther approached him uninvited?
Prayer
Lord, give us Esther’s courage — a heart that acts boldly because it trusts deeply in You. Teach us to pray before we act, to rely on Your strength instead of our own, and to step forward when You open doors for us. When fear rises, let faith rise higher. Guide our words, guide our choices, and guide our steps, just as You guided Esther. Amen.
