Contemplation (verse 3-9)
As to pouring the oil over the Lord’s head.. That might refer to how the Lord Christ looks at deeds of love; considering all of them offered for His sake. All what we offer to the poor, the sick, the afflicted, the grieved, and those in prison, as deeds of love, the Lord Christ accepts them
+ St Jerome
Judas, counted that oil as loss, because it costs more than 300 dinarii; but he did not apprehend that, what he counted as loss, is rather a gain, in the eyes of the Lord, who is longing to receive similar fragrance from everyone.
+ Fr Tadros Malaty
Personal Reflection
What does the Lord want from me? Will I try to give it to Him?
Bible Knowledge Question
The pouring of the costly oil over the Lord Christ, was mentioned in which gospels? Was it the same woman/event each time?
Prayer
Lord, that woman loved you so much she spent an insane amount of money to pour oil over Your head. Help me to love You like her, to do deeds of love for Your sake, to give You a small gift as a thank You for creating me, dying for me, taking care of me, chastening me, supporting me in my times of difficulty and distress, and giving me so many blessings. Amen.
