Contemplation (verse 1)
He was the son of Jesse; He would not forget his origin and his status: the youngest son, a shepherd over his father’s sheep; unknown to people, and not acknowledged even among his own family. He was unknown to men, but known to God “the Most High;” had his mission and work assigned by God.

Personal Reflection: Despite all his achievements, David still thinks of himself as the son of Jesse – he remained humble and did not let his success get to his head… what about me…? How do I respond to praise and success?
Bible Knowledge Question: What did David do with the water that they brought him from the well of Bethlehem during the war with the Philistines?
Prayer: Lord please give us David’s humility, and help us to always remember that everything good is from You, and not our own ability.
