1. Weekly Spiritual Message

Spiritual message for the week by Father Yacoub:

A dialogue between a Priest and the Omicron Virus

Priest: Omicron virus, I pray that you perish. You have burdened the world with your effect.

Omicron: Father, you don’t understand. Try and compare me to the vaccine. I provide immunity, greater than the vaccine.

Priest: Absolute nonsense! The vaccine is safer than you?

Omicron: Father, the vaccine can help, that is true. But I provide something stronger than the vaccine.

Priest: You only provide misery, despair and sadness. I pray that you disappear.

Omicron: There was misery, despair and sadness before I entered the world, Father. I am the hope. I can offer greater immunity than any vaccine. Due to my actions, people have turned to God and offered their hearts to the Lord.

Priest: How much longer will you be with us?

Omicron: I am not sure, Father. No one knows. Could be weeks, months, perhaps years. But look at how the world has changed since I have come. I have changed men to open their hearts to God, possibly more than you have.

Priest: Really? How? What spiritual effect have you provided?

Omicron: Father, have you heard the story between the terrible taxi driver and the Priest? Let me tell you. There once was a terrible taxi driver who was quite careless and dangerous, and a priest entered his car. During the ride, the taxi driver told the priest, “Father, I can assure you that I bring people closer to heaven than you.” The Priest was very curious and replied, “how so?”. The taxi driver responded, “when you give sermons, Father, they are very boring and long and most of the congregation are asleep by the end of the sermon. However, when I take my passengers for a ride, they are always praying Psalms and doing the sign of the Cross. Some of them are yelling with passion as they are praying and crying out to God to save them…from sin”

So you see, Father, it’s the same concept here. There have been many who have not spoken to God since I have arrived. They have returned to the One who loves them and have asked for safety and protection.

Priest: I can understand your point of view but you’re ruining Christmas for us. We can’t see our loved ones and eat together because of you.

Omicron: I know Father, and I am very sorry. But think of the people who have enlightened in the Lord through their isolation. Even though, they are isolated from the world, they are united with Christ. Surely that’s worth more than any feast available on earth.

Priest: I see what you are saying. But what about those whose health is affected by the virus?

Omicron: I am sorry for that but isn’t our spiritual health of more importance than our physical health? So even though those with co-morbidities are affected, their spiritual bodies are strong and the presence of the Lord has never been felt more than during this period. Please Father, try and understand that I give hope to those to turn to God, even when He has been waiting for them all this time. For some, it took my existence in their lives in order for them to run to Him.

Priest: I can only pray that we all have the strength to view your presence in this way and open our hearts to the Lord.

2. Celebration of the Feast of the Epiphany – Tuesday 18th January 7:30pm

Two Services, Arabic and English:

Prayers on the water (Lakan liturgy) 7:30 – 8:15pm

Holy mass. 8:15 – 9:30pm

A blessed Lordly feast to all.

4. IMPORTANT: Covid Safe Information

1. Please do not attend if unwell, have any symptoms or should be in isolation.

2. Masks are mandatory indoors. Although some will attend outdoors, we strongly urge everyone to wear a mask for their own safety and for the protection of vulnerable people within the community.

3. Practice social distancing, and good hand hygiene. You must also register using the QR code and we request that the congregation cooperate with scouts who will be facilitating that.

4. We recommend that if anyone is vulnerable to serious illness (e.g. has underlying health issues, not vaccinated, elderly) to reconsider attending weekend masses may be consider attending masses on weekdays.

يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس أبونا يعقوب:

حوار بين كاهن وفيروس أوميكرون

الكاهن: فيروس أوميكرون، أطلب من الله هلاكك. لقد أثقلت العالم بتأثيرك.

أوميكرون: يا أبونا، أنت لا تفهم. حاول وقارن بيني وبين اللقاح. أنا أعطي مناعة أكبر من اللقاح.

الكاهن: كلام فارغ! هل اللقاح أكثر أمانًا منك؟

أوميكرون: يا أبونا، اللقاح يمكن أن يساعد، هذا صحيح. لكني أقدم شيئًا أقوى من اللقاح.

الكاهن: أنت لا تقدم إلا البؤس واليأس والحزن. أطلب من الله اختفائك.

أوميكرون: البؤس واليأس والحزن موجودون قبل دخولي إلى العالم يا أبونا. أنا الأمل. يمكنني أن أقدم مناعة أكبر من أي لقاح. بسبب أفعالي التفت الناس إلى الله وقدموا قلوبهم للرب.

الكاهن: إلى متى ستكون معنا؟

أوميكرون: لست متأكدًا يا أبونا. لا أحد يعلم. يمكن أن تكون أسابيع أو شهور أو ربما سنوات. لكن انظر كيف تغير العالم منذ قدومي. لقد غيرت البشر ليفتحوا قلوبهم لله، ربما أكثر منك.

الكاهن: حقاً؟ كيف؟ ما هو الأثر الروحي الذي قدمته؟

فكما ترى، يا أبونا، إنه نفس المفهوم هنا. هناك الكثير ممن لم يتحدثوا إلى الله، منذ وصولي لقد رجعوا إلى من أحبهم وطلبوا الأمان والحماية.

الكاهن: أفهم وجهة نظرك لكنك دمرت لنا الاحتفال بعيد الميلاد المجيد. حيث لم يمكننا رؤية أحبائنا ولم يمكننا أن نأكل سويًا بسببك.

أوميكرون: أعرف ذلك يا أبونا، وأنا آسف جدًا. لكن فكّر في الأشخاص الذين استناروا في الرب من خلال عزلتهم. على الرغم من أنهم معزولون عن العالم، إلا أنهم متحدون بالمسيح. بالتأكيد هذا أغلى من أي احتفال موجود على وجه الأرض.

الكاهن: أرى ما تقوله. لكن ماذا عن أولئك الذين تتأثر صحتهم بالفيروس؟

أوميكرون: أنا آسف لذلك أيضاً ولكن أليست صحتنا الروحية أكثر أهمية من صحتنا الجسدية؟ لذلك على الرغم من تأثر أولئك الذين يعانون من أمراض متشابكة، فإن أجسادهم الروحية قوية ولم يتم الشعور بحضور الرب أكثر مما كان عليه خلال هذه الفترة. من فضلك يا أبونا، حاول أن تفهم أنني أعطي الأمل لأولئك الذين يلجؤون إلى الله، الذي ينتظرهم طوال هذا الوقت. بالنسبة للبعض، تسبب وجودي في حياتهم في ركوضهم إلى الله.

خبر مفرح! تم رسميًا صدور تطبيق الكنيسة الجديد. سيكون هذا التطبيق هو الطريقة الجديدة للتواصل بجميع الإعلانات والرسائل الروحية من آبائنا إلى كل الشعب في كنيسة القديس مار مرقس.

يتميز التطبيق أيضًا بما يلي:

٤.معلومات عن الحماية من كوفيد

1. يُرجى عدم الحضور إذا كنت تشعر بأنك لست على ما يرام، أو إذا كان لديك أي أعراض أو إذا كان يجب عليك العزل

2. ارتداء الأقنعة أصبح الآن إلزاميًا في الأماكن المغلقة. وعلى الرغم من إقامة القداسات خارج الكنيسة (في مكان مفتوح)، فإننا نحث الجميع بشدة على ارتداء الأقنعة من أجل سلامتهم وحماية افراد المجتمع المعرضين أكثر من غيرهم للإصابة بسبب حالتهم الصحية.

3. ويجب ممارسة التباعد الاجتماعي وتعقيم اليدين، وأيضاً تسجيل الحضور باستخدام رمز الاستجابة السريعة، ونطلب من الشعب التعاون مع فريق الكشافة الذي سيقوم بالتنظيم.

4. نوصي إذا كان أي شخص مصاباً بمرض خطير (على سبيل المثال لديه مشاكل صحية، غير مُلقح، مسن)، فعليه التفكير في عدم حضور قداسات السبت والأحد وأن يحضر قداسات أيام الأسبوع
