In each season of the Church calendar, a special Fraction prayer is appointed for the Divine Liturgy. During the Apostles’ Fast, one line has particularly captured my attention this year:

“After Peter and Paul completed their preaching, they shed their blood for Your Name’s sake.”

Preaching and evangelism were so central to the life of the early Church that even the threat of death could not silence the apostles. They proclaimed Christ knowing that it could cost them everything.

By comparison, we can sometimes hesitate to witness to our faith because it feels uncomfortable, awkward, or socially unpopular. Yet the apostles continued to preach despite facing imprisonment, persecution, and ultimately martyrdom.

As an Orthodox Church, we rightly take pride in preserving the faith and traditions of the early Church. But preserving the early Church is not only about maintaining its teachings and practices, it is also about embracing its missionary spirit.

During this Apostles’ Fast, may we be truly Orthodox in our desire and courage to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and the richness of His Church whenever God gives us the opportunity.

May we have the same conviction as the apostles, that Christ is worth proclaiming, whatever the cost.

This is a meaningful step forward for our community. By bringing together Coptic professionals and businesses across Australia, we can build stronger connections, support one another, and create new opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Importantly, this initiative will also help us address a long-standing gap.

For too long, our community has missed out on valuable funding opportunities across local, state, and federal levels—simply because we haven’t had the comprehensive data needed to demonstrate the true scale and impact of our professional and business community. ١. الرسالة الروحية الأسبوعية

يقدم رسالة هذا الأسبوع قدس ابونا مارك

في كل موسم من مواسم السنة تُخصَّص الكنيسة صلاة قسمة خاصة للقداس الإلهي. وخلال صوم الرسل، استوقفتني هذا العام بشكل خاص إحدى العبارات التالية:

«بعد أن أكمل بطرس وبولس كرازتهما، سفكا دمهما من أجل اسمك.»

لقد كانت الكرازة والبشارة في صميم حياة الكنيسة الأولى إلى درجة أن حتى التهديد بالموت لم يستطع أن يُسكت الرسل. فقد بشّروا بالمسيح وهم يعلمون أن ذلك قد يكلّفهم كل شيء.

وبالمقارنة، قد نتردد أحيانًا في الشهادة لإيماننا لأن ذلك قد يبدو غير مريح، أو محرجًا، أو غير مقبول اجتماعيًا. ومع ذلك، واصل الرسل الكرازة رغم ما واجهوه من سجن واضطهاد، وفي النهاية الاستشهاد.
