Contemplation (verse 17-27): David doesn’t rejoice when he hears of Saul and Jonathan’s death – instead, he mourns and composes a song of lament. Even though Saul had hunted him for years, David still shows him honor. He chooses grace and forgiveness over revenge. His love for Jonathan shows how deep and godly friendships can be. David’s heart teaches us to let go of resentment and remember the good, even in our enemies. ____ + Fr Tadros Yacoub Malaty
Personal Reflection: Am I able to forgive people who have hurt me, like David did with Saul? Or do I secretly celebrate when they fall?
Bible Knowledge Question: What was David’s response when he heard of Saul and Jonathan’s death?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me to have a heart like David — to forgive those who hurt me, to love sincerely, and to honour others even when it’s hard. Help me let go of bitterness, and fill me with Your peace and mercy. Amen.
