At the time of: Written in the late first century (around A.D 85 – 90), after the destruction of Jerusalem when the Jewish nation ended, so he did not mention the persecutions stirred by the Jews against Christians, but rather the resistance stirred by the heretics. By the end of the first century and the beginning of the second century, some heresies emerged concerning the person of the Lord Christ. (Fr Tadros Malaty).
Main Focus: To dispel doubts and to build assurance by presenting a clear picture of God as light, as love and as life.
