Saint Jason One of the Seventy Disciples

Claim to fame: St Paul ordained him as bishop over Tarsus. After building a Church in Korkiras, the Governor of the city arrested him and imprisoned him. He met seven thieves in the prison, taught them the faith and baptized them. Despite much persecution, God delivered him from it all and he departed in a good old age.

Quote: “But the Jews who were not persuaded…attacked the house of Jason…they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city “…Jason has harbored them, and these are all acting contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying there is another king—Jesus” …So when they had taken security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.” (Acts 17:5-9)

Fun fact: He was born in Tarsus – the first to believe from this city!
