What shall I give you?\u201d <strong><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And Solomon said to God: \u201cYou have shown great\u00a0mercy to David my father, and have made me\u00a0king in his place.\u00a0<strong><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Now, O\u00a0Lord\u00a0God, let Your promise to David my father be established,\u00a0for You have made me king over a people like the\u00a0dust of the earth in multitude.\u00a0<strong><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may\u00a0go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?\u201d <strong><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Then God said to Solomon: \u201cBecause this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life\u2014but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king\u2014\u00a0<strong><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>wisdom and knowledge\u00a0<em>are<\/em>\u00a0granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as\u00a0none of the kings have had who\u00a0<em>were<\/em>\u00a0before you, nor shall any after you have the like.\u201d<\/p><cite>2 Chronicles 1:7-12<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Question<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>God came to Solomon when he must have been feeling the most powerful of all. His request for wisdom showed his humility before the Lord.
