That\nits smoggy, ashy fumes are&nbsp;choking you but you still don\u2019t&nbsp;draw\nyourself away, even when&nbsp;your hand is being burnt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s\na picture of captivity. Why don\u2019t I guard my soul as vehemently as I guard my\nbody? Perhaps it\u2019s because I just don\u2019t know how valuable my soul is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When\nScriptures speak of Jonathan\u2019s love for David the prophet, it says, \u201c<strong>the soul of\nJonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own\nsoul.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(1 Samuel 18:1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So\nwhat does it really mean to love your own soul?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cKnow O\nbeautiful soul that you are the image of God, know that you are the glory of\nGod, know then, O man, your greatness and be<\/em><strong><em>&nbsp;vigilant.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;-St\nAmbrose of Milan<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes\nwe are blinded from this very greatness that St. Ambrose speaks of. We feel so\nhuman, in every broken kind of way. Our memory fades from the calling to which\nwe received. We have unlearnt that we are&nbsp;made for greatness, by\nGreatness. Our minds haven\u2019t quite descended into the depths of our hearts to\nknow these truths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe more we get what we now call \u2018ourselves\u2019 out of the\nway and let Him take us over, the more truly ourselves we become.\u201d -C.S Lewis<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If\nonly we knew of the way God looks at you and me. It\u2019s in the same way He looked\nat a shepherd boy\u2014David\u2014and saw in him a king. Each of us is&nbsp;<em><strong>in the\nprocess of becoming.<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;Becoming beauty out of the\nashes.&nbsp;Living in the dirt of our own sin, but destined to be butterflies.\nPerhaps living the resurrection just means being yourself, in the fullest way.\nDark but lovely. No matter how dark we are, \u201cGod\u2019s gifts and His call are<strong>&nbsp;irrevocable<\/strong>\u201d\n(Romans 11:29).<em>&nbsp;Not even an inch of darkness can out shadow the shine of\nyour lovely.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cLike Michelangelo who looked at a rough, shapeless stone\none day and saw a statue of David in it, Jesus was constantly looking at people\nin terms of what they can become. We may be defeated, degraded, soiled,\nenslaved by our pas\u00adsions, yet through Christ we can be\nredeemed.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;-Anthony Coniaris<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s\nin this knowing that we learn to guard our souls zealously. We learn to build\nthe walls of Jerusalem because we know that deep inside there is treasure. So,\nbrush off the dirt and be ready to receive the promise of the Father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cFor you have need of endurance, so that after you have\ndone the will of God, you may receive the promise.\u201d Hebrews 10:36<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit, will bring to\nyour remembrance all things. Remembrance of who you really are. We were made\nfor worship, and every moment in our lives we are bowing down to something, so\nif in those moments we don\u2019t see God, we are worshipping an idol. So,\nallow&nbsp;Him to bring us&nbsp;prostrate before&nbsp;the throne of grace \u2013 let\nHim point us&nbsp;back home, back to where we belong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cHe is the source of holiness an intellectual light for\nevery rational power\u2019s discovery of truth, supplying clarity, so to say through\nhimself. He is inaccessible in nature but approachable in goodness. He fills\nall things with power but only those who are worthy participate in him. He is\nnot participated in all at once but shares his energy in \u2018proportion to faith\u201d.\nHe is simple in substance but manifold in powers. He is present as a whole to\neach and wholly present everywhere. He is proportioned out impassibly and participated\nin as a whole.
