{"id":6431,"date":"2020-05-31T21:35:40","date_gmt":"2020-05-31T11:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stmark.com.au\/Blogs\/?p=6431"},"modified":"2020-05-31T21:35:42","modified_gmt":"2020-05-31T11:35:42","slug":"love-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.stmark.com.au\/Blogs\/love-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Greatest Gift of All<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Testament Passage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Corinthians 13<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><sup>1<\/sup>Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.\u00a0<strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And though I have\u00a0the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith,\u00a0so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.\u00a0<strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And\u00a0though I bestow all my goods to feed\u00a0the poor,\u00a0and though I give my body\u00a0to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.<\/em> <strong><em><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em>Love suffers long\u00a0and\u00a0is\u00a0kind; love\u00a0does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not\u00a0puffed up;\u00a0<strong><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>does not behave rudely,\u00a0does not seek its own, is not provoked,\u00a0thinks no evil;\u00a0<strong><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>does not rejoice in iniquity, but\u00a0rejoices in the truth;\u00a0<strong><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.<\/em> <strong><em><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em>Love never fails. But whether\u00a0there are\u00a0prophecies, they will fail; whether\u00a0there are\u00a0tongues, they will cease; whether\u00a0there is\u00a0knowledge, it will vanish away.\u00a0<strong><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>For we know in part and we prophesy in part.\u00a0<strong><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But when that which is\u00a0perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.<\/em> <strong><em><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em>When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.\u00a0<strong><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>For\u00a0now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then\u00a0face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.<\/em> <strong><em><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em>And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these\u00a0is\u00a0love.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discussion Questions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Even the greatest sacrifices are worth nothing without love. It is not what we give, or how much we give, that matters, but rather the love that compels us to give what we can. How then, does that affect the way we give and receive?<\/li><li>Love bears all things, regardless of how burdensome or grievous they may be. How does that affect our relationships and the way we interact with others? <\/li><li>In what ways do we \u201cshow\u201d people love rather than just saying, \u201cI love you?\u201d <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Old Testament Passage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Samuel 18: 1-4 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Now when he had finished speaking to Saul,\u00a0the\u00a0soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David,\u00a0and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.\u00a0<strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Saul took him that day and would not let him go home to his father\u2019s house anymore.\u00a0<strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Then Jonathan and David made a\u00a0covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.\u00a0<strong><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And Jonathan took off the robe that\u00a0was\u00a0on him and gave it to David, with his armour, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discussion Questions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201c\u2026 having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.\u201d (John 13:1). How can we love God and our neighbours every day?<\/li><li>According to Gary Chapman, there are five ways we express and experience love. These five languages of love include: words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time and physical touch.
