Spiritual message of the week by Father Augustinos:
The divine hedge of protection
Job 1:8-10
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”
So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land”
In light of the recent events of violence, war and aggression we are constantly hearing around the world, many people feel a sense of fear and insecurity. However, we must have faith and trust that the Lord our God is our protector and has surrounded His children with His spiritual divine hedge of protection.
In every hour of the Agpia prayers, we say a beautiful prayer in the concluding prayers which states “Surround us with your Holy Angels that we may be guided and guarded by them to attain the unity of faith and knowledge” of the spiritual divine protection. How can we be assured of this divine hedge like in life of Job the righteous? The word Hedge in Hebrew means a “wall” and in spiritual terms Hedge means the divine protection of the unseen wall of angels surrounding a person, his family or surrounding a church. They all have been blessed and protected by the Lord.
How can we be assured of the spiritual divine hedge?
Let’s look at what God said about the man Job so we may imitate his life. God described the man Job as “a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil”.
1. What is a blameless person? He is one who cannot be accused of wrongdoing before people or God. In David’s Psalm 19 “Keep your servant also from wilful sin then I will be blameless”. David is seeking blamelessness not in a physical sense but in a moral sense. So being blameless comes with the notion of moral perfection for individuals.
2. What is the upright man? Simply he is a man that God thinks highly of. One who has the impression of a righteous life.
3. Who is the man who fears God, he is the man who gives God His undivided attention.
Psalm 86:11″Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” According to the David’s Psalm an undivided heart leads to the fear of the Lord.
4. Who is the man that shuns evil?
In 1 Thessalonians 5:22, we are commanded, to “Abstain from every form of evil.” The Greek meaning of “shun” means to find repulsive or disgusting. It is the proper response to anything impure or morally filthy.
As we grow in the knowledge of God, we will understand that God is in control of everything in the world and all things are allowed to happen by God’s approval. There are things we will not understand why they happen because of our limited human mind but rather will be reveal to us when we are in the glory of God in eternity when we are in the spirit.
May the Lord surround us with His divine Hedge of protection to all His children and Church.

4. Lion’s Den – Men’s Pickle Day – this Sunday 21 April
Does the idea of making your own pickles… pickle your fancy?
Have you ever wanted to master the art of pickling turnips and cucumbers and learning more about pickling olives, carrots, chillies or even fish?
Do not miss our mega pickling event where you will make and take home jars of pickled veggies. Lunch will also be provided – more details in the flyer below.

Where: St Mary and St Mina Coptic Orthodox College Senior Campus 4-5 Alexandra Parade, Rockdale Provided: All veggies, jars etc as well as a koshari lunch.

5. In the Shadow of the Cross – Friday 26 April
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” ( 1 Corinthians 15:22)
As we approach the culmination of our fasting journey and prepare for Passion Week, let us focus our attention on the cross of Christ, where salvation was secured for all. Come and join us on Friday, April 26th at 7:30 PM for a spiritual evening together. ” The shadow of the cross.”
Childcare service will be available starting at 7:30 PM.
Don’t miss this opportunity to dwell in the presence of our Savior, surrounded by the significance of the cross.
6. Remembrance Liturgy – Saturday 27 April
On Saturday 27th April 2024, there will be a liturgy to pray for the Lord to repose the souls of beloved members of our congregation who have gone to heaven. We will also be praying for the Lord to give comfort to those who are grieving. Following this liturgy there will be talks about coping with grief. 7. Palm Weaving
A call out from the PALM weaving servants, they need the talent of servants who can weave palms for the church with the group on Friday, 26/4 and Saturday, 27/4.

8. Relocation of Coptic Orthodox Community Outreach Service (COCOS) Charity Bin
For many years now, our congregation has been donating clothing and other much needed items to people who are homeless. With the current building works, the charity bin has a new location. Its new home is next to the Narrow Gate.
We only accept donations of clothing for men. The clothing does not have to be new, just in good condition. If you have clothing you do not need, please put these in bags and place in the COCOS clothing charity bin located near the Narrow Gate. If we all could spare a few items, it would make an enormous difference.
Much needed items of clothing for men include:
Jeans (sizes 30 to 38)
Shirts (especially t-shirts)
Casual jackets
Tracksuits
Sports and casual shoes (sizes 9 – 13)
Singlets
Shorts
Underwear (New)
Socks (New)
Sun hats
Cargo pants
Hoodies

The Team making biscuits are requesting for volunteers to help out. If you have as little as 2 hours free or more, or if you would like more information on helping with Kahk, please contact Nancy Assaad on 0414 661 031.
10. Holy Week Bus Service
A bus service will be running only during the Holy Week to bring the congregation to church. The Pickup times and locations are:
6:00pm – Wattle Grove (outside St Mark College)
6:20pm – Riverwood Railway Station
Returning from church 15 minutes after finishing.

سياج الحماية الإلهية
ايوب 1 : 8-10
فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِلشَّيْطَانِ: “هَلْ جَعَلْتَ قَلْبَكَ عَلَى عَبْدِي أَيُّوبَ؟ لأَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِثْلُهُ فِي الأَرْضِ. رَجُلٌ كَامِلٌ وَمُسْتَقِيمٌ، يَتَّقِي اللهَ وَيَحِيدُ عَنِ الشَّرِّ”
فأجاب الشيطان الرب وقال: ” هل مجاناً يتقي أيوب الله؟” أليس أنك سيجت حوله وَحَوْلَ بَيْتِهِ وَحَوْلَ كُلِّ مَا له من كل ناحية؟. بَارَكْتَ أَعْمَالٍ يديه، فَانتشرت مَوَاشِيهِ في الأَرْضَ. وَلَكِنْ ابسط يَدَكَ الآن وَمس كل مَا له، فَإِنَّهُ فِي وَجْهِكَ يُجَدِّفُ عَلَيْكَ”
في ظل أحداث العنف والحروب والعداء الأخيرة التي دوماً ما نسمع عنها حول العالم، يشعر الكثير منا بالخوف وعدم الأمان. ولكن يجب أن يكون لدينا الايمان والثقة في أن الرب إلهنا هو حامينا وأنه يحيط أولاده بسياج حمايته الإلهية الروحية.
في كل ساعة من سواعي الصلاة في الأجبية، نختم بهذه الصلاة الجميلة التي تقول: “احطنا بملائكتك القديسين، لنكون بمعسكرهم محفوظين ومرشدين لنصل إلى اتحاد الإيمان” والتي تؤكد على الحماية الإلهية الروحية. كيف نتأكد من هذه الحماية الإلهية كما حدث مع أيوب البار؟ كلمة “سياج” في العبري تعني ” الحائط” وبالمعنى الروحي فهي تعني الحماية الإلهية ، الحائط الغير مرئي من الملائكة التي تحوط على الفرد، وعائلته أو تحوط على الكنيسة. فالكل قد قام الرب بحمايته ومباركته.
كيف نتأكد من السياج الإلهية الروحية؟
لنلقي نظرة على ما قاله الرب عن أيوب حتى نقتدي بحياته. لقد وصف الله أيوب ” رجل كامل ومستقيم يتقي الله ويحيد عن الشر”
من هو الشخص الكامل؟ هو الشخص الذي لا يمكن اتهامه بعمل شيئ خاطئ امام الناس أو الله. في المزمور 19 ” وأيضاً من المتكبرين احفظ عبدك …حتى أكون كاملاً” إن داوود يبحث عن الكمال ليس بالمعنى الجسدي بل بالمعنى الأخلاقي. إذاً الكمال يتحقق مع الكمال الأخلاقي للفرد.
من هو الرجل المستقيم؟ هو ببساطة الشخص الذي يقدره الله. الذي يحيا حياة صالحة.
من هو الرجل الذي يهاب الله، هو الرجل الذي يعطي الله كل انتباهه بلا تشتيت. المزممور 86 : 11 ” علمني يارب طريقك اسلك في حقك. وحد قلبي لخوفك.” بحسب مزمور داوود، القلب الغير منقسم يؤدي إلى مخافة الله.
من هو الذي يحيد عن الشر؟
في 1 تسالونيكي 5 :22 نحن مطالبين ب “امتنعوا عن كل شبه شر”
المعنى اليوناني لكلمة “يحيد” أن تجد الشئ منفر أو مثير للاشمئزاز. هو الرد المناسب على أي شئ غير نقي أو قذر أخلاقياً.
عندما ننمو في معرفة الله، سنفهم أن الله يتحكم في كل شئ في العالم وكل شئ يحدث بسماح من الله. ستوجد أشياء لن نستطيع أن نفهم لماذا حدثت بسبب عقلنا البشري المحدود ولكن سيتم الكشف عنها عندما نصل إلى المجد مع الله في الأبدية وعندما نكون في الروح. نصلي من أجل أن يحوطنا الله بسياجه الإلهية ليحمي كل أولاده وليحمي الكنيسة.

اول ما نوصل لآخر جمعه فى الصيام بنلاقى نفسنا بنرتب لأسبوع الآلام و نثبت أعينا لصليب المسيح كما ثبت المسيح نظره الى خلاصنا على الصليب.

سيقام يوم السبت الموافق 27 أبريل قداس نطلب فيه من الرب نياحاً لأرواح أحبائنا من شعب الكنيسة الذين انتقلوا إلى السماء. ونصلي فيه أيضاً من أجل الحزانى. بعد القداس سيتم إلقاء كلمات عن التعايش مع الحزن. برجاء تسجيل رغبتك في الحضور مستخدماً استمارة جوجل من أجل إعداد الأطعمة وللتأكد من ذكر ابونا لأسماء احبائك خلال القداس: . https://forms.gle/E1D3G2eNqvDL9UiU8

٨. تغير مكان الصندوق الخيري للتبرع بالملابس الخاص ب ((COCOS
على مدار سنوات عديدة يتبرع شعب كنيستنا بالملابس وغيرها من البنود التي يحتاجهاالأشخاص الذين بلا مأوى. ومع أعمال البناء الجارية الآن، تم نقل الصندوق إلى مكان جديد بجوار Narrow Gate
نحن نقبل التبرع بالملابس الرجالي فقط. ليس من الضروري أن تكون الملابس جديدة، ولكن في حالة جيدة. إذا كان لديك ملابس لا تحتاجها، فيُرجى وضعها في أكياس ووضعها في صندوق الملابس الخيري COCOS الموجود بجوار Narrow Gate. إذا تمكنا جميعًا من توفير بعض البنود، فسنحدث فرقًا هائلاً.
